Hey guys, I have just purchased a 2006 LX470. At the dealer prior to purchasing i noticed a small antenna pointing down towards the dash from the rear view mirror, they had no idea what it was. The base of the antenna is mounted on the windshield and reads XR Plus and has 'OK/6a' written on the side. After a quick google search i have learned it to be a remote start or some sort of aftermarket alarm. I have dug around in the engine bay with no luck coming across any non-Toyota. I need to open up the underside of the steering wheel to see if i see any other devices that are installed.

Long story short i would like to remove it. I know very little about aftermarket alarms and would like to get some pointers before diving into the removal.

Let me know if you have any advice I can follow.

Are you using the OEM key fob or a Viper 4-button? It would be safer if using the OEM. You could go to a place like Viper (google implies the 1002 model uses a XR Plus antenna) and download an alarm manual - use that to help look for wiring.

The Viper had capabilities like remote start, so if that was enabled, and still in place, and you use a Viper remote - then I would not just start yanking things out.

Yes, i am using the OEM key, it is all that came with the vehicle. Thanks for the info on the model number of the viper alarm, I'll take a look at the documentation. From there i hope i can disassemble this from the vehicle.
