Guys,
Wanted to throw this out there and see if someone may have some interest. I currently have a 1997 S420 w/ 117,xxx miles. It is the long-wheel base chassis. Silver on Blue Leather, Meticulously maintained w/ verifiable service records from Mercedes and local indy mechanic. Car fully optioned with 6-disc changer, rear sunshade, and HID lights. The only option is does not have is the heated seats. I added a unit that ties into the cd changer to allow for Ipod control thru the OEM headunit.
This car is currently my daily driver and is in perfect operating condition. I am moving to Boston, from Birmingham, so I will need a car for commuting even more less. So that leaves me toying with the idea of swapping for another LC. This car has been my pride and joy and I am not 100% set on getting rid of it. It is hard to find a car with this kind of engineering. A quick search will reveal that the 97-99 Models S-classes were considered to be the last of the truly over-engineered classics (anyone see where my taste for LandCruisers comes from?). I am the third-owner of the car, I purchased it from a colleague who inherited it from his grandfather (these are the first two owners). My friend drove it for awhile and then purchased a newer S-class after I took it off his hands. If you are interested I am more than happy to give you a complete service history of the car as well as recommend you to my local indy tech who can verify the records. I would also welcome any inspection you might like to perform, or a test drive. I would only consider a trade for a truck where the owner is willing to be upfront and honest about the issues with the truck. I understand most cars this age do have knicks and quirks and I am not afraid to turn a wrench to get it right.
I am looking for a clean reliable 80 or 100 that I can use for weekend fun, but also as a daily driver should the need arise. Dependability is much more important than looks.
My KBB "Good" on my car is $9500 so I would consider any trucks with a value of within $4000 dollars of my price assuming there is willings to work with cash as well. I have a clean title in my hand.
Here is a quick picture of it. If you would like anymore please send me a PM with you email address and I will get some right over to you. Please let me know if you have any specific pictures you may like.
Cheers!
Brian
