Howdy. I'm in the market for a welder. Not really experienced enough to drop the $$$ on a new rig. I've been checking CL but haven't found anything yet. I would like a nice 240V wire welder with gas. I will also consider some nice output 120V. Just bought a home so my budget is pretty small. Looking to keep this below $200. Local would be best just to avoid the pains of shipping. Thanks.

Yeah, I was afraid of that.

Whatever you do, leave the Harbor freight welders where you found them.

I was lucky to get these items

Its not a 240 unit, but it has done well for it self.

For $190.00 got a hardly used lincoln 100hd with o2 bottle, regulator, spool of wire, and self darkening face mask. You will also need a heavy duty extension cord "not your typical home depot type" if you want to weld beyond the length of the extension cord on your welder.

Just keep looking and waiting and use Craigslist search to widen your search. use escrow.com to protect your self from unscrupulous sellers.

I just bought a powcon 200 sm (220) for 300 and that is an inverter. Would really consider looking for one of theses on cl made in the usa then miller bought them for the inverter technology, no longer made but parts are still availible thru arcon online very heavy duty, and great duty cycle, which is also something you should look at depending on what your doing with your welder. Good luck
