If your is a true 76 not an early 77 you should have the square metal type. The tube type was a 77 model and later, If yours is a 76 get the catch that attaches to the back of the tub with the tire carrier since it's unavailable.
The 75 and 76 were the only years with the square metal type tire carrier mounted on the driver's side. To confuse things even more the 75 soft top model with a tailgate still had the tire carrier on the passinger's side. Not sure about the 76.
Few changes with the 77 model fan clutch on water pump, mirrors mounted on the doors not the door hinges and vent windows in the sides of the hard top.
