Does anyone have..or know where I could buy a used mig? I do not care if it is 110V or 220V (single phase). I want to make sliders and bumpers this year. I also want to modify my car trailer a bit and build a custom rear bumper for my new/old motorhome. Thanks Craig
PS...Old is ok as long as it works and you can still get parts.

Craig, I just tried to buy a 3 year old MillerMatic 175 on eBay and ended up going for about $200 less the I paid for mt new Millermatic 180. $200 didn't seem too much to pay to get a new one with warranty.

Thanks Mike...I got your voice mail the other day, but we all got sick PINK EYE!! I will keep looking. I really want one with infinite control, NOT just the selectable settings. That option seems to push the price WAY up!

Millermatic 180, baby. Up to 5/16" in a single pass al the way down to 24 gauge for body panels (not that I'll ever do that...but I could  ).

:bounce2: :bounce: I REALLY hope it shows up Friday so I can play with it this weekend. :bounce: :bounce2:

Mike,

Where do you sugest shoping for the Miller?

C Ya, Don

I got mine at Linnweld(sp) off West and Esthner. They bought out Flat Land and hired Dave (owner of Flat land). I took in what I could buy it for online and while the price difference was mostly in the tax, they tossed in some stuff to offset the difference enough for me to buy local. I'd rather buy local for warranty issues then off eBay from MD and the difference was only about $30.

I used Google to find dealers

Kirk Welding Supply Inc - 0.4 miles SE - 1608 Holmes St, Kansas City, 64108 - (816) 221-3030
Linweld - 4.1 miles NE - 6000 E Front St, Kansas City, 64120 - (816) 231-2677
Hohenschild Welders Supply - 0.5 miles SE - 1620 Campbell St, Kansas City, 64108 - (816) 471-1982

They were all about the same price. I learned that you need to be carefull with older units, because some of them like one I found on ebay don't have "full wave" they are only "half wave" I guess it has to do with power and duty cycle.

FYI
Craig

Craig, We also have a Linweld in Topeka. It's also only a couple of blocks off I-70, so hopping over here and back would be easy. You do live in Lawrence, don't you? Rick
