For Sale WTB: FJ40, ambulance doors, front discs; looking for advice

Alrighty all, I've been shopping for nearly a year. I have 1975+ (76-78 focus) daily searches on here, Craigslist (15 US cities), Autotrader, Cars.com, Hemmings, Ebay and every week or so I get creative beyond these.

At this point I'm requesting advice from the community. I've watched prices and inventory ebb and flow, but more-so ebb in the past ten months. There were several last year, but I was stupid and waited to sell my other projects first. I am essentially chasing my grandfather's FJ that I grew up driving 25 years ago. I am hoping someone hasn't posted something they're willing to part with.

Up to $30k; preferences, with this being what 30k looks like:
  • Clear title
  • Minimal rust
  • Reliability, I intend to drive it ~100 miles a week in highway traffic at 65mph, ~20 every two weeks offroad on relatively flat Texas ranch land. I have a backup commuter car.
  • Sand Beige or originally paint-coded to Sand Beige (restore candidate, subtract $5k);
  • Round grill (visual preference, sorry square fans)
  • Ambulance doors (visual preference; sorry liftgate fans)
  • Fold to-side troop rear seats
  • Original rims, without mudding tires
  • Powered front disc brakes
  • Aftermarket AC - Texas here.
  • Power steering & aftermarket reduced power steering
  • Ideal: Fuel injected and SMOG ready. During the weekdays my vehicle lives in an underground garage with very strict odor restrictions.
I am fine with swaps (sorry, not a purist if not ruined), and bastardized options to a degree. I am not looking for a show car. This a driver to add to my long term stable. I have built four prior 'classic' project cars but am not permitted to by the wife at this time. Sigh.

Yes I know, I am not an FJ candidate, but I will continue to chase this dream. Are these simply unreasonable expectations now? I recognize the candidate pool is small with my specifics.

I will now slink off in embarrassment to my bunker for a good solid flaming. Thank you.

Doesn't meet all your needs (square bezel, diesel might not be optimal in your parking garage), and might be an import - wary of rust/bondo (don't ask me how I know....), and front drums - but trying to help.

Seems like with your budget you'd have better luck.

Thank you all. Added LCN to my search. The diesel wouldn't work as you suspected - but maybe I should consider square bezels. Expanding my search.
