Well, my 80 must have heard all the talk about selling her and got jealous - walked out to the parking lot to find a stream of coolant. 3fe water pump is not fun to change.

someone said something about a Help A Member meeting or something to that affect...

I really don't like hearing that. What's worse that or a birf?

for mine it is definitely worse at this point, only because the upper portion of the lower two piece hose was a nightmare. It was obviously the original hose(scary at 250k) and the hose clamps were turned so the screw was positioned toward the back of the engine and tilted slightly forward so they were wedged behind the ac and ps bracket. I finally got it loose but my arms are raw from squeezing them in there. After all that I found that there was no gasket included with my water pump and no auto stores stock it so I have to call around today to find one.

The 2F and 3FE are so similar in design yet the water pump and alternator on the 3FE are more difficult to swap out than on the 2F.

I'm not running an air pump so the alternator is super simple to take out - good thing too since that is the first step in the water pump procedure. If I had it to do over again I would pull the full ac/ps bracket out and pressure wash everything about 20 times before digging in.

oh, no, I am off the deep end cruiser crazy.
I had my 40 (that still is non-op) listed on craigstlist for about 4 hours, 5 phone calls later I deleted the ad. I had already agreed to let someone come look at it and by the time he showed up I had broken out in nervous hives thinking he was going to buy it.... luckily he passed on it...

I don't know how I missed post - If you sell that 40 on craigslist I will slap you.

yep, unbelievable. There was about a half inch of oily dirt caked all over everything down there. Seems like anything that could go wrong did - somehow I messed up the threads on one of the bolts that holds the pump on and it was not available in town. I had to buy a longer version at lowes, thread it more with a die, and then cut to length. Wrapped up the long day/night with a face full of toyota red, must have been a giant air bubble in there cause it erupted like old faithful. good times.

I have a '94 80 with lockers, 285s, 117,000 miles, and slee sliders. I don't think I really want to sell it, so I will price it out of your range(and probably more than it is worth) at $9,700 firm. :)
