Long shot probably, but I'm doing some experimenting with the suspension on the new-to-me 100. It's a 2000, with OME T-bars and 865 springs, but the ride is still really harsh. I've tried raising and lowering the t-bars, tire pressure etc, but the fact is the rig is mostly empty all the time. My wife hauls kids that weigh next-to-nothing, and the only weight-adding mods are a TJM front bumper (that I don't think weighs much more than stock) and some Slee step sliders.

So, I'm looking to try someone's old OEM Toyota t-bars and springs with the OME shocks still on it (not sure I can get away with that in the rear).

If that works ride-wise, I'll look into air-bags for heavy loads I guess.

So if you've got some old toyota T-bars and spring collecting dust in your garage, shoot me a PM and we can work something out. I should say I'm planning on keeping my OME's (at least t he t-bars) as someday I'll chuck a winch, 2nd batter, ARB and a Slee rear bumper on there.

I'm also running Nitto TG 295/75/16 with decent tread left. I'm also interested in going down to some 285's too, since most of the miles are around town and highway driving.

Caution - If you put OEM T-Bar back on you will never remove them;)

:lol: Rub it in... I may have to pony up shipping from UT to get a set.

Are you running air bags for stock rear springs, or for OME lifted springs? If for the stock ones, do they prevent some of the sag, netting a little bit of lift? My 865's in back rattle your teeth over bumps.

I was talking with Phil about t-bar cranking and new shocks for my 100. I'd be interested in hearing more about what you are experimenting with as well. I sure do love the ride of the stock suspension and want to keep as much of that ride as I can but gain a little more distance between my frame and the ground if you know what I mean. Do you have a thread somewhere documenting what you are trying/experimenting?

Don't know if this will help or not. If you make it down there, bring me back the grill so I can black it out.;)

1999 Toyota Landcruiser - Parting Out

I've gotten a few parts off of that truck, but last I heard the whole thing was sold? Last time I saw it, the entire rear axle was gone.

Well, the truck is pretty much empty (no extra weight) so the OME ride is pretty stiff. Speed humps at 40 MPH are awesome, but small bumps in the road rattle your teeth. Doesn't seem to be too "progressive". The TJM front bumper isn't that heavy so I'm hoping the stock t-bars will adjust up enough to clear the 295's. I've got the OEM springs and t-bars coming, and some 30mm spacers for the rear ordered from MAF. My plan is to keep the OME shocks and crank the Toyota T-bars (may have to re-index a few splines?) up front. In back I want to run the 30mm spacers and stock springs and will keep the OME shocks on. I'm also planning on adding Firestone air bags (4124's) for the rear. Still trying to figure out the details of the air bags and spacer. I'm thinking I won't trim the bumpstop as much as indicated, i.e. leave it at least 30mm longer to account for the spacer, maybe a tad longer. I'd like to put the compressor and in-cab control for the air bags, but honestly I'm having a hard time figuring out where to mount the guage and have it look decent. The OME setup seems to do well off road. I just took it out to Saguaro Lake to test it out. I hope the OEM setup with airbags would do as well, along with improving the on-road ride. I do load it down occasionally for weekend trips, and would like to tow a pop-up in the near future, so that's the rationale behind wanting the air bags. Also need to double check the OME shock lengths compressed with the OEM springs, spacer, and trimmed bump stop with airbags and make sure it all works out...

Gratuitous flex-shot of the OME setup with the wife driving...
