While I'm ranting about lack of U.S. made quality, affordable tools in another thread, I though I'd post pics of my latest tool acquisition and support for a great tool company.

Specs:

1/2" Drive
11" Length
3/4" Swing arc
Contour grip
Full polish
45 teeth double pawl design
Rebuild-able ratchet mechanism
Made in U.S.A. out of forged steel

You had me at 'rebuild-able'.

This thing is built like a tank. You can get a rebuild kit for the internals if you have the good fortune to wear them out. Lifetime warranty of course. It's smooth and has a great action.

Wright tools seems to be an unknown and well hidden secret. They only sell through distributors, no trucks, no extra markups and they make high quality tools right here in the U.S.A. Prices are reasonable for what you are getting. This is a $50 1/2" ratchet. I can pass this one on to my children, and they can pass it on to theirs. I have tools from my grandfather that live on and perform their jobs well and this kind of tool at 30% more money up front over the imported stuff I can get at the big box store will let me do the same. I won't need the warranty, I'm certain of that.

I'm not affiliated, I'm just enjoying my new, well made wrench.

Wright makes solid tools indeed.

There are a ton of little known USA tool brands that are no longer produced, as they got bought out, largely, but are still found at garage sales and pawn shops and can be had for a very good price.

Garage Journal is a good place to research stuff like that.

and this site, I have some tools from almost all the manufacturers on this list.

Pretty solid, USA made stuff, and usually found at very good prices.

I have switched to Wright tools and I love them. In fact, I put them on the same level as Snap on, but more reasonably priced. I stopped buying craftsmen tools years ago and have down graded them to the tools I carry in my rig. My shop tools are mostly Wright and Snap on. I am very happy with their quality.
