Hello everyone! I'm not only new to this incredible site, but also a new owner of 1992 FJ80.
I just got married and decided to make a switch from exploring on an adventure bike to something a little safer. So, I purchased my FJ80 last week.

The first step is getting my FJ80 in proper working condition before moving on to adding a lift and larger tires.

I purchased this vehicle for a good price, but did so knowing it will require putting some cash into it right away. I had a VERY bad experience which almost cost me my life when I took my bike to a shop for repairs. Ever since then, I prefer to either work on things my-self, or with someone who is much more mechanically inclined than I am. This is the only way to insure things are done correctly with no short cuts.

Is there anyone around Los Angeles who would be willing to help do the front axle rebuild? I have no problem not only providing the beer, but also kicking in some cash for someones time and expertise.

Thanks in advance!

Nomad,
There's a ton of great write-ups on rebuilding the front axle on this site. The job is not hard, just tedious and dirty. I've done two and would help but I'm in ventura. Just make sure you're prepped properly with all the parts needed (call Kurt at cruiser outfitters) as well as a tub and degreaser to clean parts before reassembly. Take your time and follow the write-ups or the FSM and its a pretty simple job. There's a few tricks to getting it right but if you search you'll find em and it will make life easier. Make sure you have a hub socket and a good brass drift or brass hammer as well.
Good luck
Paul
