There's a pretty significant coolant leak underneath and a broken windshield. 2 owners. Zero rust. TX vehicle. Sold by a mom and pop shop.

My question is - is a coolant leak significant enough where I could take a major bath on it?

Pull codes and see if anything else pops up. A coolant leak on its own isn't that scary, but not knowing whether it's been overheated is the tricky part. It may be the valley plate, but it's hard to see from just a picture.

Mileage? Seems like a pretty good deal if low-mileage and has service history.

140K miles with extensive service history. They didn't find any coolant up top, just around the axel

Update: mechanic said this has probably overheated and so I walked
"probably overheated"? Does he know about the coolant valley leak on these? (unfortunately I just dont trust anybody these days). I dont know man, a rust free 2016 with 140k, great service history, 2 owners for $37k? That sounds like a solid deal. That leak may have been going on for a while. Where is that leak coming form exactly? Id probably do a bit more digging before I walked, it may be an opportunity to get an even lower price on a good truck.

mine leaked at the water pump at 90K some miles.. that leaks basically straight down on to the under plate and flows to the axle area.... That look like it is right side, so where the big T's are for the heater etc.. those break with age/heat soak, pipes are secured with spring clamps.. anyway I would investigate further right above that and get a scope in the valley and eyes on the back of the heads (visible from underneath pretty easily)..
Over heating would puke out coolant though the Expansion tank.. normally.. if that's dry/without evidence .. probably not then. anyway ... Trust but verify, yourself..

Looks like valley plate leak to me. Not necessarily indicative of overheating but it's been there a while. Could be used as leverage for a discount to offset the cost of fixing.
