Jb welded muffler, paint matched front bumper, and some awful aftermarket extra tank under passenger seat... With a jerry rigged fuel line made out of 2 in pipe that was behind the seats from the driver to passenger side.

for posterity

Check out this beauty. I cut myself just looking at it. FJ 40
The worst part is I wouldn't be surprised if he was serious. Scam or not, has the statute of limitations run out on this rape?

wanted to make sure that we can still see this beauty even when the CL ad expires.

Worst on my 40 was probably the solid core house wire run from the alternator to the ammeter and back to the battery. Unfused system with no grommet or extra insulation where it passed through the holes in the firewall :bang:. The 3/4" layer of bondo to cover dented non-rusted sheetmetal was strange, given how easy it was to pop the dent out afterwards :meh:.

My parts truck was a road hazard with someones attempt at soa. The "welds" on the spring perches were so bad I didn't need to cut to remove them from the axle; prybar and hammer were enough.

my PO had done a pretty good 350 conversion, with one exception. He told me "you gotta keep giving it gas. Th idle isn't right." Even at the age of 18, I knew right away it was the clutch slipping. When the clutch did burn up, and we were replacing it, we figured out why. He had brazed an extension in to the clutch fork. Hydraulic pressure against brass lump, yep the fork was bent back to the point that it was not fully engaging the clutch. We replaced the fork with one that was the correct length, and never had a clutch problem again. He must have like brazing, the stick shift had a long handle brazed on, as well.

Wow.. There are winners and losers.... This one is a loser... Ouch!

I want in on these customizations... It's the little things that count? Right?

Where do these people get these ideas and actually act on them? :bang:

My wiring looks quite professional

One of the POs decided to put a 2wd 4.3 v6 drivetrain into my FJ out of a s-10 I think. Installed an electric fan on the radiator but wrapped the temp sensor around the battery hold down. I'm guessing it was to circulate air through the engine bay whenever the battery got too hot. The blue painters tape matches the color of the rig well and the marine speakers almost fit in holes in the tranny hump.

i think i'm gonna be sick...

The crossmember from the s-10 was glued to the frame with boogers only on the top, which i realized only after spending 45 minutes trying to cut it with a sawzall. The welds were so poor I ended up removing it with a cold chisel. Luckily all the holes drilled in the body and firewall won't rust because they are aluminum. Also, the driveshaft was attached to the rear axle with 3 different size bolts that were home depot brand(only 3 bolts cause lets be honest, does it really need 4?).

This is why some people shouldn't be allowed near tools!

This steering column up-grade and manual clutch linkage is a real work of wonder on a '71 FJ40 I picked up for a few select parts (selling the rest). YES, the steering universal is welded to the end of the column shaft that has been extended through the end of the gear box. The rag joint, with universal joint, at P/S gear box was also a nice touch (gave out long ago, when parked, I hope) This just makes you wonder what :censor: is going through some people's minds!

battery relocation

Ok well this definitely isn't in an S10 drivetrain, or diamond plate panel fender league, but this battery re-location into the under-seat tool box could have been done a little better.

the battery box is through a hole cut into the floor, its even welded, sort of, on two sides. They didnt bother with welding the rear, nor left side, just applied some sealant. The bottom of the battery box is about 2 inches above the muffler. The additional holes are for the cables that ran to the winch and the starter.
