not a big fan of the fake stuff but the glue is losing its adhesiveness on the trim pieces around the vents...what kinda of glue is the oem stuff?......or what can I use that would be close to oem...thanks

I tried to take mine off, and the plastic underneath is a chaunched out. Gonna have to get some more or something.

Yeah, my wood trim looks like crap, I guess the adhesive is starting to pull away and I have discoloration in the wood trim. I tried to pull it off but was afraid to go to far. Any body pull it off with success?
Haven't pulled mine off; but have been told that they are taken off by using a hair dryer
and then alcohol to clean up the left over glue.
Not sure how hot it has to get to come off, but I have noticed that mine gets softer just
being in the hot sun.

ive heard just shut all windows and doors and run the two heaters on hi for like 20-30 min till the whole car is hot as hell, then use a hair dryer if still needed. then just alchole or goo gone to get the remaining glue off.

I took all of mine off, hated the stuff. I used a heat gun and Goof-off to remove the old glue. If you use Goof-off, make sure you clean the area with soap/water as soon as you are done. And, be patient. You'll need to get a plastic putty knife to keep from damaging the original trim when removing the wood stuff.
BTW - The trim is held on with copious amounts of 3M accesory tape.

Took mine off too... just turn the heater to high for ten minutes and you can peel it off. Almost all the tape will come off with the trim.
As far as cleaning any residual glue/tape - BE CARFULL. If you base trim is black plastic then goof-off or alcohol will be fine. Newer models I think '03 and later (mines an '07) have a slightly bronze/black trim around the nav and stereo that seems to be painted. Goof-off will take paint off too! The plasic is also soft and will gouge easily so no scraping.

Does anyone have pics of a 2004 or newer with the wood trim off? I have a '04 and hate the trim, but would love to see it without before I take the risk to remove.
Also, did anyone see a "tan line" when they took off the trim. Meaning, did the exposed areas of plastic fade more than the areas covered by the faux wood?

Soberman, search Siglo for his '04. His came standard without the wood trimming.

On the passenger side door by the electric window switch, the clear plastic layer of the wood trim came loose on mine and it sliced the finger of one of my passengers. It was pretty sharp because there was a good bit of blood and he didn't even feel it get cut.
If I remove that, maybe I'll remove anything else that comes off.
