my 60 is having problems starting in the morning. it has progressivley getting worse over the last few dasy, until now it just wont start. after the first time in the morning it starts before i get the key turned all the way for the rest of the day. it starts great when it is warm. just in the mornings its really hard and now wont start.
what is the problem

it cranks away. i had to stop trying so i dont kill it. i dont get it. its getting fuel. at least the float bowl is full and it always starts effortlessly the rest of the day. but this week its been getting worse and worse in the morning, until today. it just wont start. i just read a thread that mentioned a cold start sensor. do you or anyone else know where that might be?

Is this a 60 (carbed) or 62 (injected)? The carbed 60s don't have a cold start sensor, just a choke. "Float bowl" sounds like a 60. Check to see that the accelerator pump is squirting gas in the primary barrel. Make sure the choke is opperating correctly.

My 60 is a little tough to start when its been sitting for a couple of days but I've found that if I give it a couple pumps of the gas pedal to squirt some gas dowm the carb then wait like 10-20 seconds for the gas to vaporize, it starts much better than cranking immediatly after pumping the gas.

yah its a 60. and nothing works. i got it going with starter fluid. again starts perfect throughout the day. i did find out the fuel cuttof solenoid is broken on the end. maybe a peice stuck in there. thinking maybe at shutuff whats left may tap in broken peice and after it sits to long- i turn the key solenoid retracts (leaving broken peice) and over night pressure decreases in line not enough pressure in line to push the peice out. do you think?

oh and thanks for telling me there is no cold start sensor. have been waiting on that one a while

so you think thats it then? replace the accel pump?

you wouldnt want to tell me where that is or how i might fix that would you? :bounce: would make me a very happy camper

i know im working on it. i would just about kill to get my hands on one of those right now. but am broke from half of the parts im getting etc. to get this thing running proper. i mean its runninig good but blah blah, and thank you very much for your input. its very much appreciated

If your chokes not working, I would start there and also replace the solenoid.

If it runs fine after the morning start I would not pull it to bits yet.

the choke is operating mechanically perfect,
the solenoid is getting replaced top. its broken. (whole other thread that kind of crosses with this one)
