I heard that there is a provision for mounting a GoPro etc? Can someone demonstrate with a pic please?

Going to be putting in an order on Friday for one of these... Question now becomes, what version should I scavenge from what vehicle in the local Pick N Pull.

I did compass and temps.

Yeah I definitely want the Homelink for sure... other than that I really don't care what else it has. But damn do they range from like $45 to $100 on ebay.

Got mine installed with the old mirror from my 2012 Tundra (for now). The 1/4”-20 threaded holes are pretty dope. Got a RAM ball for it. Phone mount fits. BOOM.

Tundra mirror is a wee bit too wide for the sun visors but I’ve got it in a happy place. I’ll buy a similar mirror to what I put in my Tundra eventually. Manual dimming with integrated screen for backup camera. Maybe I’ll splurge for autodimming. Can’t decide yet. I’m cheap. :hillbilly:

@gregnash Have not driven the vehicle with the phone mount yet. Seems plenty stable. I'd worry about the phone being in the sun more than anything.

Also to add on the mirror. My visors only come down when I use my windshield sunshade. So the fitment doesn't really bother me.

Yeah I am with you and rarely use my visors for anything other than the sunshade. Moving the mirror around so that I can get those up/down doesn't bother me much as they're pretty much destroyed and falling apart anyways (wife recently broke the roof cliff on the passenger side, well I say broke but really it just disintegrated on her).

If I could find a Gentex with just the auto-dim and homelink and figure out what year vehicles it came in that would be awesome. Found that it seems the GEN41K(a) but not sure on vehicles to look for it in.

Just put in my order for one @NLXTACY!!! Going this evening after work to scavenge through the local Pick N Pull and find myself a mirror. Looks like I should be able to find the standard Auto-dim + HomeLink in just about anything from 2010 on. Looks like the GENK41 and GENK41a are the ones that that is standard and those came on 2008-2014 Toyota Prius and some Tacoma. I will update everyone with what I come out with, luckily there is also an 80 in the yard that I plan on grabbing the rear wiper arm from!

@gregnash Glad you figured out the mirror situation and you're gonna like the mirror mount.

Just drove the 60 to work this morning with the phone in place. It is very stable. In fact if I grab the phone, the whole mirror/arm assembly has acceptable movement. It is only held down by two phillips head screws that are mounted side by side, parallel with the windshield. I'm sure if there was a third screw from factory to triangulate the mounting pattern you could just about hang on the mirror mount. I'm still 110% on this product.

Well bummer the 80 is apparently gone now (just checked the PnP site) but may still head out that way after work, not as much of a rush now as I had just discovered the truck was out there (apparently had been since the end of May). In the meantime I will continue doing my research to see what is what with these mirrors. Looks like another cool one that has the intergrated compass and homelink comes from newer subaru's (2014s+ it seems) is the MOBL4.

There is also an absolutely SICK looking one that comes on some newer (2017+) subies that has the auto dimming, homelink, "hidden compass" (meaning no cutout) and is FRAMELESS!!! But hhhoooooowweeeeee is that pricey!! It is the Gentex GENK8(0A) or 8 Series mirror.

So on the frameless Gentex 8-Series I just found some good information...
Model # 50-GENK8A = Standard Auto-dimming only
Model # 50-GENK80A = Auto-dimming with Homelink V5
Model # 50-GENK85A = Auto-dimming, Homelink V5 and Compass
These comes in a whole variety of 2017+ Subies from base model Impreza to high-end Foresters and Legacy.

This is a great product from Wit's End. I went simple and just got an auto dimming mirror new off of amazon. The wire for that mirror is tiny and can be concealed in the rubber surround of the wind shield.

My original mirror was OK and went into my FJ60 because the plastic was rotting off the back of it. But this is a whole nother level of mirror goodness. If you even think you might want one, just order it now it's really excellent.

Look carefully at the second picture. I was driving around in my FJ62 and another FJ62 the same color pulls up behind me in the turn lane. I ended up chatting with the owner-a nice older lady original owner who said she kept the car so that guys like me would come up and talk to her. I got a good laugh out of that. She said people offer to buy if from her almost every week.

I think i have missed something... how do you get the wires connected or should i say run the wires without messing with the head linner

Think it depends on the model you purchase. I think what most are doing is running the wire under the lip of the windshield gasket on the inside, then down the A-pillar, behind the dash and to wherever they have power.
