I am about to mount some offroad lights on the windshield hinges of my cruiser. My question is about the switch I should use. The lights are Caterpillar (where I work) flood lights, 12 volt. What switch should I use, I have burned up 2 switches in my daily drive that runs the fog lights, these lights will use more power I asume and want to avoid the same problem.

run a relay so the power does not go thru the switch.

Do you recommend one?

yes. What it does it takes power from the batt and sends it to the light, the swtich on dash will then use low power to turn the relay(and lights) on.

here is a good link with info
