Wireless Charging Pad Delete

What’s out there to “delete” the wireless charging pad in favor of more storage? What do other markets have in place? Would still like to retain the door to keep it clean, but that would be a nice extra “glove box.”

The only thing I can find is, what appears to be, the "door" assembly if you don't have the charger.

The top item is the cover with the charger and the bottom item is (I'm assuming) without the charger. But I can't find what would be in place of the charger itself within the dash.

As an example, I can find the storage tray that is used in other markets that don't have the cool box. What would be its counter part, but in place of the wireless charger?

I currently use the space for a portable USB device charger.

It gives me an extra couple of outputs and allows for charging obviously with the vehicle off.

Curious what you come up with.
Extra storage would be nice.

I bought an aftermarket tray BTW to place above the coolbox on Amazon for about $15.

I am all about OEM, but $110 for a tray is a bit much!

The tray I had shown replaces the cool box entirely and is what other markets have for a more "traditional" center console. We use our cool box every once in a while - good way to store some snacks and drinks for a trip with the kiddo in the back. I also have the same $15 Amazon tray on top of my cool box.

While I like the idea of the "true" center console, I know there's a lot more to it than just pulling out the fridge and popping on of these OEM trays in. Really I was just using it to illustrate what I'm after in place of the wireless charger. There has to be something like that that goes in place of the charger, right?

I always forget that we have the wireless charger in there. The phones get so damn hot when using it though and it is much slower to charge than a traditional wired charging cord so I rarely use it. I am not sure how much more space one could attain by removing the charging pad as you're really limited to the size of the opening and it's not large enough to make me want to be feeling around in there blindly to find something if you could utilize more space, ymmv. I wish it were big enough to store my EDC, now that would be a worth while modification. No way we'd give up our cool box either, we love it for water bottles while we travel and we have the Amazon tray in there as well, best bang for the buck accessory for the truck yet.

Wireless charger? This must be some sort of 2016+ feature. I wonder if it can be retrofit to earlier models

Phone charger delete possible?

Just curious if anyone has tried to delete the phone charger area, looks separated from the module above it with the radio knobs but I have not verified it by pulling dash yet. I could find so may uses for that space.

What's funny is I could have sworn that I responded to a thread on the topic and couldn't for the life of me find it when searching this morning, so I made this thread thinking I made the whole thing up in my head.

Sorry not a helpful post to the Q at hand. Chiming in to ask if anyone is interested in going the other direction? Would love to replace the slow charger with a fast magsafe charger...the existing charger barely charges my phone as it is.
