Well I think I'm pretty much recovered from the wrenchathon. Again, thanks everyone for making it happen.

I have a few various tools that belong to others, If you are missing something let me know, most have been accounted for.

I am missing a few things so if you can check your bags that would be great. I'm missing a 12-15 or so piece Dewalt drill bit set, yellow container. a 12mm craftsmen box end and a 17mm craftsman socket. Much abliged if you find any of it especially the bits.

Poor FJ

My All Pro bumper came in today so I took it over to the shop to drop it off for prep and paint and also to check out the FJ. Turns out the inner fender liner is pretty crumpled on the passenger side. This is what was causing the fender and other various panels on that side to not line up quite right. The shop said they would try to pull it if I want but it's high strength steel and it likely won't pull well and will be significantly weaker afterwards. Given that this is the piece many pre 2010+ FJ owners have tear or crack on them after adding heavy winch/bumper combos leaving it in a compromised state is not an option. That means a new liner and 10 hours of shop time to cut out the old one and weld in the new. A bit bummed about that, I was hoping the damage was limited to bolt on parts and no major surgery would be necessary. :frown:

Sounds like I'm still on-track to get it back sometime next week though. I've been driving an 2010 Audi A4 S-Line and a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland. I get lots of compliments on both and all I can think is "I hate this thing, when do I get my FJ back?" I suppose I should be happy I'm not driving the shops Chevy Aveo loaner car! :D

Dang thats never fun news. I cant wait to see it with the new bumper!

I have not followed the FJ fender bulge saga real close even though mine was bent and finally cracked on the drivers side. I just put some reinforcing plate over the crack and riveted in place. I don't think adding bumper and winch should have any effect on those inner fenders as no weight is added to the body and I seriously doubt there is any extra frame flex. It's simply a design flaw that Toyota is ignoring. Anyway hope they get it fixed right.

Thanks for the info Ace. After looking at the truck it is most definitely not a load bearing piece, it is thin enough that you could fold it up by hand. Sounds like I will have the FJ back on Friday if everything goes well.

Has anyone tried these high clearance lower control arms from Wild West Offroad? It looks like a great idea to me, 95% of the time I get hung up it's on the lower control arms.

The only issue I have thought about with the wild west arms is that by adding that bend you now are exposing your driveshaft a little more...I'd rather hang up on a lca than smash or dent my DS....the latter could end your trip.

I have considered the "pre-bent" LCAs from Wild West since I first saw them. Why they are not more common is a mystery for me. Funny this offset style is common on Land Rovers. All that said I'm still running stock arms and carry a spare.

^This at least on the 100 series. The FJC might be different. That said how often to you hit a ledge straight on. Typically you are going to be at an angle and the LCA will be the fist thing to hit regardless. Chris and I are both running the same LCAs from Toy Outfitters and are pretty happy with them. If you dent them the company will retube for free. They are pretty damn stout and less xpensive then the WWORs.[/QUOTE]

I am always very cognizant of where I am placing my rear diff and the bent LCA's still sit a couple inches lowers than the driveshaft so I think the risk there is minimal.

Yup.... Bad ass as suspected!

Very nice!

Nice Ryan......what kinds of lighting are you planning? Led or ??

Looking good there Ryan !!:eek::cool:

Nice rack!

About the LCA's I also have the Toy Oufitters and they are very stout. I don't seem to have issues with hitting the arms but the the frame mount is what I get hung up on. At the same time I installed the Toy Outfitter LCA's I also had Rough Stuff LCA frame mounts installed (by Proffitts). Since the oem mounts are pretty weak and mine were pretty bent up putting bolt on armor wasn't really a option, more like putting a bandaid on a broken arm. The Rough Stuff mounts are about 3 times thicker than the Oem mounts and cost only $35 for the pair a couple years ago, the largest cost was the removal of the old mount and welding the new ones on. Since I changed the mounts I got the adjustable LCA's so the rear axle could easily be aligned if the mounts were not welded exactly spot on, but it appears that was not an issue.
