Are we planning any wrench & greet this winter? Also pre Cruise Moab wrench sessions?

Maybe we could do a club meeting with a wrenchathon combined on a Saturday? Definately something before CM for sure. At this moment I'am good to go but wouldn't mind helping someone else out with their project.

Matt's wish list:

Install rear bumper
Install front bumper
Install Rock Sliders
Install Fridge/ Freezer
Install Dual Batteries and Isolator
Install Ham radio into dash
Install Baja Roof Top Tent Rack
Install CVT Roof Top Tent
find small trailer for under 2K
If time, Marlin Crawler T-Case gears

A few items to get done before Cruise Moab.

:grinpimp: Other than finding the small trailer under 2K we should be able to get that done in a afternoon!

I mention doing a club meeting combined with the wrench-a-thon because for me making the meeting on a Wednesday evening during the winter months is not going to happen. I'am willing to bet some of the other club members who live a fair distance away from GJ might be able to make a meeting on Saturday also.

That sounds great to me. I wouldn't mind moving a meeting or two to a Saturday either. We could do a quick meeting and then wrench on.

Wow, now that's a list. Mine has shortened greatly.

Install 2M
Install IBS Dual Battery (just need to polish off a few things.)
Install various LED exterior lights (driving, Brake turnsignal)
Install rear tailgate LED lights (better illumination of the tailgate workspace)
Install my cuttingboard tailgate. (I need to borrow someones nutsert tool)
Install bottle opener.
Install 1" Body Lift
If time, Marlin Crawler T-Case gears!

As always, my garage is open. I Also have potential access to this if we need more space.

Yep, weekend wrench and club meetings would work allot better for me as well. Maybe we'll just start posting up once a month and see who would be interested in doing one. Also are we thinking of doing a holiday get together? 2013 calendar posted yet?

Posting a new planning thread. No planned holiday gatherings, but I'm up for something! Should get my truck back from Hugh today or tomorrow with a (practically) whole new front end.

You have my vote for weekend meetings. BCC members are spread out all over the western slope and maybe it would offer a better opportunity for them to make the meetings.
I'm in GJ, but certainly understand the issue for those who are way out there.
And to really stir things up, who's to say we have to meet in GJ all of the time???
imho

I agree that Saturday meetings could work better for many of us during the winter months. For me it's an issue of too many close encounters with deer. I just don't like to drive at night anymore. May be too much to hope for but I'd like to wrench/meet and then couch surf so no driving home in the dark. Also could test out Jonathan's new bottle opener w/o fear of DUI.

Sold! Safety first. So what do you guys think for our first one? December Meeting? January Meeting?

I usually try to get as much done on my monthly trip to the big city as possible and already have a lot scheduled for December 5, so my vote is start in January.

I am in. Sadly no new toys for me but I do need to do my 30k maintenance. Flush diffs and t-case, spark plugs and torquing things back to spec. Saving my pennies for a full set of King Coilovers but a trip to Thailand this Spring is sucking up the rest of the funds the Holidays haven't eaten through already. :D

So January 5th? for the January Meeting and first wrench session? 10:00am meeting, 10:30, wrench on?

(also happy do do strictly wrenching sessions prior to that)

January 5th works for me. My thought on the wrench-a-thon/meeting was to get started around 9/10 with some wrenching, stop for lunch (order a pizza?) have the meeting while eating then get back to some wrenching. I don't have any maintainance/projects to do on the FJ, so I will be able to assist/chase parts if needed.

I like that Idea even better. Sounds good to me.

January 5th sounds good to me, I second Doug's idea! Anyone up for one before? Really need to plumb my air compressor in the 4runner and install the rear bumper so I can get working on the tire carrier. Anyone with a metal chop saw and a Mig welder?

I have a chop saw and welder, I'll have to look and see if I have another metal blade handy I'm pretty sure I do and if not nothing a trip to Lowes can't solve.

Ryan,

Awesome! Welder Portable? Going to get Battlement Fabrication to cut and bend some brackets for the roof rack, but still need to do some welding on the rack, light tabs, bike mount hoops, Z track for the table. Is it a mig, stick welder?

It's a Hobart wire feed welder. I don't have gas though so I have been using Flux Core. Welder is portable, it's just a 110V unit. Wouldn't want to use it for frame work or anything heavy like that but welding on your roof rack would be fine.
