I've seen a couple 40's with solid angle plates to mount the windshield frame instead of using the hinges. I drive mine exclusively with a bikini top only and the windshield wobbles and shakes after I reach 40mph due to wind. Was thinking a solid plate would be more secure, I have no plans on ever folding the windshield down in the future.

Does anyone have experience with this part or know where I could get them?

BTW, starting the first chapter in my slow rebuild of my 81, just took about all of the interior parts, tire rack. Bringing it to get line-x then new upholstery, all metal interior parts powder coated. All stock colors and seat covers, I'll post a pic when I get it done!

I made a little bracket attached to the cage to keep mine from vibrating. Seems to work good and you can still flip the windshield down when needed.

SOR stainless steel plate is discontinued, could paint it I guess. Anyone know where you can get SS ones that are still made.

Thanks guys, that was exactly what I was looking for.

Your W/S should NOT be wobbling. I would bet that if you take your dash pad off you will find the mounts are broken. Not hard to fix, but will require welding a plate on under the pad to attach the W/S bracket on.

x2 on attaching the top of the W/S to the cage. Use rubber mounts if the cage is attached to the frame!!! You will need a little flex.

You can weld the existing hinges closed to stop the wobble. Be easier than getting the old screw out :)
