too vauge a question.
need to know which models you are talking about.
yes, they are available in Canada

Available from the dealer.

''Common'' Toyota dealer or Toyota dealer that supply LC mine trucks.

I already look all around for an afermarket windshield, but none has produce the 70 serie windshield.

The advantage of the dealer is that there are no shipping costs ... which may be significant when we talk about windshield.

first off, the 70 series didn't start until 1984.

1985 BJ70 windshield: 56111‑90K02 or 56111-90K03.
what the difference is between the two part #'s, i don't know.

Some LHD 70 series SWB were sold in Canada, just wondering if the aftermarket or Toyota windshields which may be available for those would also fit the late 80s BJ-74. If not where can one get a windshield for a BJ-74?

I've had mine replaced twice in Edmonton. Once by Toyota Dealer and once by Speedy Glass. No comparison since Speedy Glass is VASTLY SUPERIOR both in product and in service.
Windshield for 1987 BJ70 is Speedy Glass # FW00766BTN.
Cost me about $450 last time, complete with installation.

Was that with a new window rubber with chrome strip in it or just the glass

aftermarket? not sure, i believe i got windshields from Payless for the hard top versions when i still lived in Calgary.
there are two versions, the hard top and the fold down windsheild. they are NOT interchangeable.
i have had Payless cut a 70 heard top down to a 70 fold down and i am still using it here, i have 4 left that they cut down.
not cheap but cheaper than new.

new, any mine supplier can get fold down glass.
aftermarket fold down ain't going to happen in North America.

$450 price was for glass with labour and taxes. Speedy Glass thoroughly cleaned the rubber seal, chrome, and the body mounting position (something the Toyota dealer did not do). Original rubber seal and chrome strips re-installed. No leaks with Speedy Glass job (while there were continuous leaks for a year with job done by the Toyota Dealer). But as you know, its about the particular person who does the install, as much as about the company. That one technician at Speedy Glass in Edmonton on Calgary Trail south did it right the first time. (Starting to sound like a promo, eh?)

Do the BJ-70, BJ-73, BJ-74 use the same windshield? How to tell difference between the hard top and the fold down windshield?

just did mine on my hjz77. Went to speedy but they could not find a windshield for my truck, so I went to Toyota Part#56111-60220. Fits bj70 hjz73, 73 and 79. Part #56111-60230 is for Hjz75 which has a shorter windshield

HZJ73 has a fold down windscreen.
that one will fit:
BJ70 hardtop
BJ71
LJ70/71 hardtop
LJ78/KZJ78/PZJ77/HZJ77
HZJ79 series
and gasser equivilants.

the 73/74/75/or any soft top versions use the same windscreen.

Replaced my windshield about 2 years ago on my HZJ73. Was able to get the windshield from Ens Toyota for a HZJ75 Part# 56111-60230. It cost me $463.64 (including tax and shipping from SK to ON) for just the glass.

I just replaced my troopy's windshield and gasket. Still out there in the N.A. inventory, spendy fo' sho':grinpimp:

that makes sense. i had to replace the BJ74's windshield a while back (some stupid prolapsed a****** in opposing traffic left a socket or some such thing on the bedrail of his truck. me @ 60mph + socket @ 60mph = a very unhappy camper. good thing it was rhd, my eyes would have been peppered with glass shards and i would have wrecked for sure), and the fella at standard autoglass must have been only able to get the BJ70 glass, because he had to cut it to fit. worked fine though.

that is, untill the windshield bib went for a s***, and water started pouring in around it.

on a related subject, what's my best bet for a new (or slightly used) winshield bib and associated rubber bits for the BJ74?

i bought brand new frame from Japan 4X4 for $400 plus shipping.
you can have my old one for $100 plus shipping ...

nope, just the steel frame.

and i agree, i felt that was a good price although the shipping was a bitch.
