I noticed this weekend after a minor rain that there was a water coming from the seals of the windshield. I first I thought that it was an issue with the sunroof drain plugs, but after observing where the water was coming from I came to the conclussion what it is coming from the windshield.
I noticed that all the other glass in my truck has the Toyota made in Japan etchings, but the windshield has something else and on the lower middle section of it that says Vitor Made In USA.
It is possible that this was replaced at one time and the seal was not properly seated or installed?
Could you look at your windshields to see if it says Toyota Made In Japan?
How much would it cost to have this windshield replaced? it has wiper haze, a small external crack and rock chips?

Thanks,

Antonio

you can probably gently lift the rubber and put some sealer underneath. That would likely stop the leaks...

Yes, original Toyota W/S's say "Toyota" on them. I prefer to replace with the upper grade ones, not the bargain basement special priced one. It's not worth the Toyota cost for Idaho's rock strewn roads as the glass will get broken long before it needs replacement for wear, but the cheap ones are truly horrible. Your glass guy will provide a few options and their prices. But at the end of the day, it's installation that determines if it will leak or not. The 80 w/s has a specific requirement that glue be put on two places and I'd guess the bargain guys skip this step.

I'll second that motion......If you have the money now, buy OEM.....I had a non-stock one put in my 94 Hi-Lux 4X4 and experienced the same issues....You do not want water coming inside, and whatever ever you can see, you can bet there is actually 10X more that you can't.......

At least get it sealed immediately if you have to wait for replacement. Water can do things to electrical components and carpet insulation/padding very quickly....Have it looked at by a professional.....and check for glass coverage in your auto policy if you have comp (in case they can't fix the cracks/chips)....

Last nite I was cleaning the windshield from the inside and noticed that if I pushed hard enough I could have easily popped the windshield out. I am sure that the "yahoos" that installed this repalcement windshield did the lousiest job they could not even try to do. I don't feel safe at all with this issue now.
I will call around this morning to see if I can get a quote on a good repalcement and a quality installation. Any recommendations on the greater Boise area?

Talk to your Ins Co. and get glass replacement coverage. It costs about ten bucks a year and it covers all glass on the vehicle. If you have a crack in it it will be covered.
