2017 needs a new windshield after the repair that Safelite did on the crack in the drivers side has now started reflecting more and more light making it more and more difficult to see clearly.

Some questions to try and get a summary as searches had some info here and there and contradictions:
-OEM is far superior and worth any cost over aftermarket?
-The installer makes all the difference, but how does one differentiate between installers?
-How have those gone about getting insurance to cover new moldings? FSM appears to say moldings are consumables and single use...?
-Was there a recalibration for TSS at the dealer required? Did the glass company take the vehicle back to the dealer? Did they do it at the dealer?

Anyone recommend experienced LC/LX glass installers in the Houston area? I've heard Texan Glass in The Woodlands but not much else.

I have replaced at least 4 200 series windshields over the years (I have driven a 200 as well as my wife for basically 10 years). I have used Glasspro and insisted on OEM but in SC windshield replacement is "free" with no deductible. They do have to calibrate something but they do it at the shop. I live in Charleston SC.

Stay the **** away from Safelite. They replaced the windshield on my 4Runner when it was 1 year old. This is what it looks like 10 years later.

Also, I just saw Safelite acquired Glasspro about 18 mos ago. So that's probably not good.

This guy is in Dallas, and I might drive up to him if I ever need a full replacement. You could also call and ask if he ever comes to Houston or can recommend anyone:

Thanks for passing the number. In case anyone is looking further it's Louis with Vdkar Auto Glass. The sticking point may be getting up to Dallas but looks like there's some reputable places here.

Does anyone know which parts are required for the side molding? I see a list of a lot of moldings on the Camelback Toyota parts site, unsure of how many clips and what moldings.

did he recommend someone in Houston? I'm here as well and interested in who you end up using.

What year and vehicle? I can tell you the parts for a 2013 land cruiser. You should be able to look your year and model on a parts site (I use Olathe parts for my toyota).

He did not have a recommendation for Houston specifically. We are in the DFW area but he wasn't confident that he could meet and didn't have much to say about the recalibration. I called Northside Lexus and they said Texas Auto Glass on Kuykendahl. Fred Haas echoed that same recommendation. The lady I spoke with at Texas Auto Glass was very knowledgable in the difference between the Pilkington and OEM and even more knowledgable about how they recalibrate the sensors.
