Hey all,

Got a 200 series that has 5/10 glass quality (it was replaced years ago), and the moulding was poorly re-installed. There's also some light surface rust forming at the corners, and i was wondering if anybody knew of a good quality place that would install OEM (or at least a higher quality aftermarket windshield) and properly install rivets/moulding with new OE Toyota plastics near the Fayetteville/Raeford/Aberdeen/Southern Pines or anywhere in between to Raleigh area (in that order of preference). Maybe also treat some surface rust too.

Otherwise I was going to just roll the dice with the local Safelite or maybe even the Toyota dealership.

These guys did a fantastic job on my F550 windshield. @Hokie LX recommended them to me.

We never had an issue with land cruisers at satellite, of course it did help I worked there and.saw every order that came in as office/dispatch manager. In general 100s and 200s are easy as they are mouldings and not gaskets like the 80s and earlier series. Just go in and talk to the service manager before hand, express your concerns and say you want it done exactly how the FSM calls for it. They will either do it themselves or put their top tech on it. And satellite bends over backwards to correct anything wrong should that occur.
The WS in my 80 has installed in 2013 offloaded a bunch before I sold it, sat in SC after I sold it rotting away and sat through a few all of the recent SC big storms, sat 4 years up in Ralegh after I bought it back through all those storms and then sat a very wet year up here in WA. And the interior is bone dry. Every other WS that we installed on a cruiser for people I know in Charlotte are still running the same ones. We also did all the glass for the high end body shops and dealers also, we had about 3 techs that did nothing but cars from covettes to a Mclaren. As with all big companies though there are plenty of horror stories out there. If you just call and have a guy come to your home you may get a guy that has it us his first week working there.
There are plenty of great small indie companies out there also, many are former satellite techs and buy their supplies and glass straight from the local satellite warehouse. And the good things about them is.normally the guy you talk to is the guy that will be doing your glass. So if there is a recommended local guy you may be better going with them.
Just a heads up on the rust more often than no surface rust you can see means worse rust where you can't see it. We wouldn't put a new WS in untill it had been cleaned up normally by a body shop, depending on severity, and preped correctly.
Just my 2 cents on WS replacements.

i take all my cruisers to capital auto glass clayton. small shop, never had any leak and provided my own glass with no issues. Got upgraded gorilla glass for wifes jeep when hers went.

I used Capital to do my LX470 windshield a while ago and they were great. Treated a small rust spot on the windshield frame, used the correct rivets, etc. only because at the time Jacob’s was busy.

I recommend Jacob’s Glass for those around Durham. They’re awesome and have been around forever.

I'm about to take my LX470 to Capitol Auto Glass (front windshield replacement) on Friday. We'll see how it goes, but I've heard good things.

+1 for this shop. They've replaced many a windshield for me and once on my 200 series. Good work and communication too.

Capital Auto Glass is who Fred Anderson Toyota uses for their glass replacements.

It’s fairly convenient off of exit 312 on I-40.
