My driver's side window does not go down. It's either the regulator or the motor. I found a guy who is parting out a 93' cruiser and is selling me both for cheap. Will a 93' window motor work in my 91' front driver's side door?

First, I've always cleaned the brushes on window motors and never replace tham.

Second, have you tore apart the switch assembly and cleaned the switch contacts. This is more likely the issue as I and others have had problems here.

I don't know enough to take apart that door much less the window motor. Motor makes a clickign noise like it's trying to get the window to go down, I took the door panel off and everything is on track. Only thing is the regulator is what LCS has told me, I just need to know if the two motors and regulators are teh same

With the labor of cleaning them wouldn't it be cheaper to buy the motor and regulator for 65, and the another $65 for one hour of labor.

Who is LCS? If anyone has narrowed it down to either one of two choices then they really haven't done their job. A dirty switch will give you the same symptoms as you describe. The switch passes enough voltage to get the motor activate, just not enough amps to drive it.

The FSM shows how to attach a lead from the battery straight to the motor to check it's operation. This would also rule out the motor as the problem. Another thing is to remove the motor assembly and make sure you can move the window up and down the track. Something binding in there would also stall the motor.

It's always cheaper to do proper problem determination FIRST, then fix the actual problem. What Rick is trying to tell you is that there are multiple things that can cause the symptoms you are reporting and he is offering you the benefit of his experience with similar window problems.

Ah, yeah well LCS is Land Cruiser speacilists and they didn't know what exactly was wrong with the window. They said it COULD be the regulator, and I figure since I've found one for so cheap why not jsut replace it?

Glad they narrowed it down to a possibility for you. Some specialists.

maybe by sheer good luck they are right in this case :D
