Winch Problems

Hi Guys, I have recently installed an old Aisin A1 1000 Toyota winch on my Willys 52, the problem is that it is not taking load and stalls. The point where you connect the +ve battery terminal heats up and the motor just stops. I have tried and checked everything, even put a double battery nothing works. The motor is not burnt out the cables are ok the only thing left are the magnets. Can somebody please help me out here.
