I did it for the old Braden I'm going to put on the rear of my truck. I plan on putting 150' on it, so that will be about 4 raps. Since it will hold 9 raps, it shouldn't ever get bound up. Normally I wouldn't want to have a winch I can't get to, to monitor the cable. But, in this situation it shouldn't be a problem.

Good idea. You'll also get a lot more pulling power out of the winch with less than half the wraps on it.
