Do you guys think this control box mounting location will block too much of the radiator?

Trying to find a spot to mount it without redoing the wiring!

WITHOUT redoing the wiring? No, you are extremely limited. I can't imagine its that difficult to redo the wiring in that thing. I'm doing it for the BadLands winch and its dead simple.

The wiring will work with it located in front of the radiator as shown in the picture. I just worry covering up to much of the radiator.

Or I could get a wireless controller, install longer wiring and mount it somewhere in the engine bay.

IMO, yes, too much blockage. I mounted mine under the hood. Another recent thread showed a nice clean install INSIDE the bumper, the only thing showing on top were the rivets holding the box in place and a rubber boot that covered the control receptacle.

I've thought about getting a wireless control, but don't use it often enough to sweat it. And I'm old school. The hood usually goes up...just in case. Yeah, it could protect the windshield, but more importantly to help make sure my ugly mugg doesn't get any worse. So the cable for the control works fine with the control/solenoid pack under the hood.

Will it not fit right above the winch?

It barely fits there, so I was trying to think of a way to mount it more out of sight for a cleaning installation. I also like to be inside the vehicle when winching to I want to keep the control box in a location that is easier to run the controller through the window for me to operate the winch.

Same here. I tucked mine in front of the primary battery with the receptacle up. Takes more wire from the motor to box. Open the hood, connect the rigging, connect the remote, hop in, Rrrrrrrr-rrrrrrr. Even with a wireless remote for my Engo I use the wired remote 9/10 times because I keep it in my bag with shackles and straps so I'm there.

I ended up mounting the control box under the hood near the washer bottle. Mocked it up, not need to make some longer cables to reach the winch. Will post pictures when it is done.

I relocated mine under the hood. Dislike the look of it mounted anywhere near the winch. $100 in wire and ends is all it cost. I did go to a remote kit too though, that was about $150 iirc.

before I added the remote kit

I mounted the remote kit closer to the firewall behind the fuse box. When I want to use the winch, I pop the hood, plug in the remote kit and am ready to go. If I am going to run a trail where I might use the winch, easy to plug the remote in while airing down. Then I am ready to go for any winching. I don't leave the remote kit plugged into the control bx but I guess you could if you wanted to. I like the remote kit a lot and everybody I know with one swears by it.

Cheers
