I think it might be a warn 82-74 but I don't know if it's a 8,000 or 12,000

The castings, the external brake, the spur gears, the clutch knob, etc.

It's an 8274, it was made on March 30, 1990. It's rated as an 8,000 lb. winch but it will pull quite a bit more than that, especially if you put a later higher-hp motor on it.

A great motor to replace the original is the one made for a Warn 9.5 XP winch, Warn part # 68608. It's a 6 hp motor; the original 8274 motor is like 2.5 hp if i remember correctly.
