good evening hivemind,

i have a 1990 toyota corolla diesel 1c engine. i burned all 4 glow plugs. Glow plugs are not heating. changed 3 out of 4 plugs. one bad plug is still installed because it was hard to remove. can 1 bad plug that is installed throw off the glow plug controller and deactivate the glow plug controller?

i have the stock glow plug system which is a preheating timer, which controls the time the glow plugs get heated based on temp sensor, the glow plug main relay and a second relay, after glow relay. in toyota language this is the superglow system i think

thanks

I don't know....but what about trying to electrically connect the 4th glow plug and see how it goes then. Don't forget the ground.

One bad plug shouldn't affect the timer.

Is the glow indicator light functioning in the dash cluster? 1C Timer looks similar to a 1HZ glow timer. Assuming it functions similarly, check if your charge light is coming on when the key is turned to ignition. Superglow needs to know the car isn't running to power the glow plugs.

Test the relays, make sure they're working.

would remove the stuck one, patience
^^^ yup. Replace it so you can rule it out.

Could be the timer itself has let go.
