Need a little help. I have a 07 cruiser and I'm having issues with the 4wheel. Feels like the 4wheel is engaged but, I have not put activated into 4wheel. This is the second time it's has happen. I went to the Toyota dealership and they replaced the positive battery cable stating it was causing some kind of draw engaging it into 4wheel. Has any one experience this. Thanks

It shouldn't. Assuming you're in NA.

Tell us more about your cruiser, model, engine, tranny, location/country, etc. 99+% of us here have full-time 4WD, so can't relate to "activating" it.

Sorry guys it's an 05 with a 4.7 liter engine. I know it's an all 4wheel drive but when I make a U turns it feels like when I have my 2014 Tundra on high 4wheel and turning on asphalt. Turns feel tight kind of like it skips as it turns . I also own a 94 fj80 same style of all wheel drive so I know it doesn't feel right.

Check your center diff lock switch. My 2000 was doing the same and I figured out the CDL button had been activated but the light in the dash wasn't coming on.

Thanks "10ga" just went outside to try it and my CDL does activate you can here it but, my light is not coming on. Going to try to change the switch.

My CDL worked fine, just no light showing it was on. I took it to the car wash and when I left I noticed I was getting the hops when I turned tight. Sure enough, CDL was engaged

BTW, there's a post on here about it and how to fix it.

If the CDL is engaged, it's going to hop when you turn it, just like a part time 4 wheel drive will do when you lock it in on a hard surface.

Not sure if you have your terms confused, but you do realize that all LC/LX are 4-wheel drive all the time, right? There is no way to "disengage" the 4-wheel drive. Assuming you did have your terms confused then it sounds like you're having issues with your CDL

You'll know if your enter diff is lockedwhen you're turning on pavement. I wasn't having any problems with my turns, but I could notice it wasn't normal when turning with it locked.

I've had my CDL stuck in locked position before. Was a stressful time for a while too as I couldn't even turn tight enough to pull into the garage. I tried many things. In my case my light was stuck on. Regardless of me pressing the CDL button. I heard the CDL actuator engaging each time I pressed the CDL button so I knew at least the button and actuator were talking. But the darn CDL wouldn't disengage no matter how many times I tried rolling in reveres, slight turns, rolling in neutral, trying to get it out at speed etc...

I got a little frustrated after some RTH with some folks on this board everyone was stumped. I finally said F' it, went out to the driveway, cranked the wheels to full lock, put it in reverse, held there against resistance, hit the gas, heard the front tires chirp for a sec then bang, unlocked it was! Worked perfectly ever since. There was some kind of binding preventing it from disengaging. I now hit the CDL button once every few weeks driving up my street and it always goes in and out very smoothly.

MY CDL light does not turn on when I push the CDL button. It does feel like my CDL is locked. I'm going to replace the CDL indicator switch and give that a try. Thanks.
