Wierd Idleing Issues

Just recently picked up an 83 FJ60. Having a weird problem with the idle and stalling on deceleration. The problem stops when I turn on the A/C and with the choke pulled out some. With a/c off and choke still out some will still not idle and stalls on deceleration. Thanks to anyone who can point me in the right direction. Thanks.

Could be a silly question, but have you checked your fuses? The idle control solenoid on the carb is tied to one. If that fuse is fried then no idle. Both the choke and AC circut increase idle and could be sufficient to overide the idle control solenoid. If the ENGINE fuse is OK you can test the ICS independently to see if it is toast. Kind of rare though...
Next, check all your filters. Air & fuel may affect idle performance.
