Why won't water flow from my faucet?

I took the knobs off and water sprayed out like a jet. But when I put the knobs back on, there is only a trickle at best. It makes no sense.

Wait a minute, you took the knobs off meaning you took the whole valve out of the faucet? If you did this without shutting the water off then yes it would shoot out like a jet. Sounds like the knobs have been stripped and will not actuate the valves they should be opening when you turn the knobs. The knobs are connected to the valve that turns the water on.

Did you clean the aerator at the end of the faucet? It might be clogged with sediment.

Sounds like a problem with the faucet. Most reputable faucet manufacturers (Delta, Moen, Price Pfister etc) have a customer service line you can call in to and they can walk you through trouble shooting the faucet. I can't recall specifically, but I might have had a similar problem to this in the past. If you have a sprayer, the faucet has a little piece in it that moves up and down when you turn on the sprayer so it stops water flow to the faucet and directs it out the sprayer. They go bad and don't move back and forth right, so it may be stuck so you're not getting flow out of the faucet. I called Moen, they trouble shot it and sent me new guts to replace, free of charge.

second , clean filter in faucet tip, just screw it off. MIke
