Why TOYOTA Australia does not offer 70 Series SWB model

Traditionally a small market and the vehicles are expensive for what they are with limited appeal due to the size. A two door 70 series GXL would be ~ 70K drive away, how many people would pay that for a small 4x4?

The prado and Jeep are available as 2 doors, yet the 4 doors are far far more popular.

2 Door Prado is only ~2K cheaper than 4 door, Jeep has a 4K difference between the two and four doors.

I really do like the SWB LC70, unforunately we dont have it here.
Wondering why.

Because when they were on sale here 23 years ago ,buyers who wanted that SWB beach runabout thing went out and bought suzukis, pajeros and diahatsus at 1/2 the price.
Most of the buyers of new 7* series in australia are small or big business and payload counts.
Ride quality is another thing, you cant beat the LWB when you have to drive it on bad roads day after day.

They reintroduced the SWB Landrover a few years back and sales were dismal.
The SWB Prado has not been a big seller either

Personally,I think the MWB 7* would have more appeal than the SWB. Its more of an all rounder.
EDIT ,Im forgetting thats why they brought the 76 series here;)

The 7* series is very popular in the Middle East and is believed to be a heavy duty truck that is more reliable than any other 4x4 vehicle.

The 2010 onwards V6 70 series SWB carries the code GRJ71

where the money or mpg would never be an issue ... ( same happens in Venezuela since 40 series )

Look at the sales of 2 door 4wds in Aus in the past. In Melbourne almost all true 4wds sold are (Landcruiser, Patrol, Pajero) are wagons or utes. Why would someone buy a swb 2 door 70 series if they can buy a ute for a few more grand. Only people who want better departure and ramp over angles or just a smaller capable 4wd would buy it. Majority of people buying 4wds are families or tradies who need to carry stuff.
