I noticed that the front springs on my 60 are different from each other. I believe they are for Man-A-Fre, they came with the truck, so I don't know the true origin. They work fine other that the bushings have to be replaced. One of the front pictures is missing, and they are different also.

Do all of the spring packs have the same amount of leaves?

I believe so, I have to confirm tomorrow, like I said; it rides fine, a little stiff compared to my 80, but they are completely different animals. Also I suffer from the "death wobble" and I'm betting on those worn bushings.

Here are the front ones...

Better, more detailed pics are needed, bro. As pictured currently, I see nothing notably different up front.

I doubt those bushings are responsible for your "death wobble". The shackles, as you probably know, are not stock. Try taking a side shot of the springs to help show us your problem.

death wobble usually = need front knuckle rebuild. also on a 40 could be steering box getting sloppy, needing center pin rebuild. prolly not the springs, but i agree they look like one is backwards.

Yep those bushing are fubared....but something else is up...but they do in fact look backwards....need better pictures of the springs

How do you put one rear spring backwards? The pin isn't in the middle of the spring, is it?

Put the double wrap on the non-shackled end. You may not be able to do that on the front, but its best.
Longer shackles in the rear are no big deal, but if the bushings are badly worn, bolts not tight, yes, death wobble.
Extended shackles on the front without reseting the caster angle, coupled with something loose or worn, even bushing,s will make it almost undrivable.
My set-up uses shackle reversal, saginaw crossover, cut and turned front axle (4 degrees caster) etc. 80 mph= 1 finger on the steering wheel.....but after a hard day of wheeling, the shackle bolts loosen up, and its all over the place, and the wobble is there. Everythings gotta be tight and free of slop!!

The amount of springs is the same all around, seven. The rear springs have the two wrap around loops towards the front, in other words one spring have two wrap arounds and one only have a single. The front axle have shims. So why my shackles are straight down? Wrong springs?:hhmm:

I have the bushings, I have to get taller jackstands. The ride is just fine, except for the wobblyness due to the worn bushings.

Why $250, on which parts?
