My 62 seems to generate a lot of heat in the cab. It runs well, the temp gauge generally does not exceed the half way mark, the tranny light doesn't come on, and the tranny hump doesn't feel hot. Nevertheless, it seems to get a bit toasty on the driver's side of the cab. Does anyone have any clues about what might be causing this?

Any chance you've left the rear heater on?

If I'm not mistaken, the exhaust runs underneath the floor pan on the driver's side. If your factory insulation beneath your carpet has compressed and worn thin over time, this might account for the noticeable heat. Toyota didn't put very much insulation into these trucks during production and there are some excellent aftermarket products available that will address this.
