Just curious does anyone know why the Houston chapter has a separate board? I've gone there and it seems to be dead. What is stopping the Houston club to switching over to the MUD forums. It would seem we would have more activity going for us Houston folks if we switched.

Been trying to connect with some local folks but can't find anyone very easily.

I'd not seen much on the Houston clubs board before we moved down here and never really went back. I wheel my junk (when it's together) and really got the impression most of the Houston guys were more into restoration. That may not be the case but was the opinion I got.

I'm up off 2978 & 1488 with a torn down FJ40 and no room to work on it 'til we get a shop built. I've seen a few other 40's up this way but none that appeared to be wheeled :frown:

Clubhouse Corners on 'MUD are free to ANY club...TLCA or not, Toyota or not...links to private club forums are too. There are a handful of clubs who have chosen to host their own, some successfully.

The headache of keeping up with software and security has bitten a few of them tho...

Some folks like the 'all inclusiveness' and some want their own space. Either works by me :)

I vote to have Houston assimilate to MUD!!! Wait can we actually vote? I would but I can't find any Houston folks to call for a vote, our forum is dead. Haha.

What do you think Woody? Could we get a general Houston board up? Not sure if this would step on any toes or not?

Name it Lone Star Land Cruiser-Houston Chapter.....that will wake em up.........did once before

Thanksgiving weekend

Is there any offroad events going on 11/24 - 11/28 In the Houston area?

O/T: *Nothing wrong with that in and of itself, if somebody doesn't do it then where will these vehicles be in the future, right. This might be something that clubs should consider at some level as we have also touched base on this subject in the "BMW" thread in relation to T.O.R.C.

Any club that would be willing to put on an event showing beautifully kept or restored rigs is always a good thing in the sense of a historical side. Nobody can say they're not jealous of say Marv and Kay Spector's collection. Why doesn't someone get a group of like minded people to do this and also be a part of TLCA? Yes, use of our vehicles is important, but I won't fault someone for a resto.

Never said there was anything wrong with it. I love a beautiful stock or restored 40. Fact, I'll probably call on them when we do a show-n-shine as part of a fund raiser. I'll also be calling on some of the wheelers to come out and do some crawlin' demonstrations over junk cars. That's just my impression of the Houston area club and I don't think I'd fit in because I wheel it. Seems no different then some of the "purists" fussing cause some used the wrong shade of red, the wrong color bib lens or something like that. I fit in better with LSLC & WTotEC better the Houston club

I have attended a majority of the meetings in Houston over the course of time I have been here.

There are a lot of avid off-roaders in Houston, they are mostly just too busy to make meetings or get on the forum. I know our admin of TLCC-H works a pretty demanding job.

Heck I missed this months meeting because I was working on putting on some sliders for the Jamboree in January.

I definitely wouldn't mind having a MUD affiliated Houston page though, the hassle of creating a new user name and stuff was kinda frustrating. And then nothing looks the same. I have to learn a new forum type.

And also the Guy who runs the Houston site is stubborn. Oh well.

We could make a Houston chapter on mudd and put a link to it on the the Houston site.

There is a link to the Houston site if you look. The Houston forum has been like a ghost town lately, but things are picking up. Go log in and post something. There's a camp out run to Matagorda scheduled January 1st and 2nd, Barnwell is in January, we're going to my gravel pit in February, and Arizona is in April. We had a great meeting last saturday at Patrick and Erin's shop in north Houston. TLCC-Houston is now mostly FJ40s and serious off-roaders. The truth is that clubs reinvent themselves from time to time and that's just how it goes. Nobody from our club bad-mouths any other club for how they choose to do things. Our meetings are always posted and emails go out every month. You're welcome to send me a PM if you want to be involved.

You belong to the "I tore my truck apart to rebuild it, then moved to another state and have no room to work on it and no money to fund it Club":D:D:D:D

Fixed it for ya sir. Isn't that the current theme of the White Trash???
