like the video

As they say a picture or in your case, a video is worth a thousand words. I am doing a rattle can to my doors and have been on the fence regarding the clear coat.

Why don't you like the clear coat?

Don't get me wrong, if I wasn't using a "textured" paint I would do the clear coat, but with the texture is just isn't necessary. Are you doing a matte or gloss finish?

The clear coat will give a slight sheen to your matte if your going that direction

Holy overspray batman

Looks like you really shot the turn/marker assembly with your rattle can. Those suckers look new...:bang:

well the nice thing aboutnthe textured paint, is that it is tough, any over shoot I do, can easily be taken care of with a little Acetone on rag

Right click link, save as for those who cant see it.

I love the look of the Rustoleum camo line up. I used some of the olive green on an old 4runner and it looked great. I think this time around when I get to some body work on my 40, I'm going to go with the dessert tan with black accents.

Interesting....

But why not just strip it down and do it right? A T416 dune beige gallon of base coat in either lesonal or ppg is not that much, invest in a mid-grade clear and it will last 10+ years. Then the greasy gloves and tree poo you can wipe off with a paper towel.

Good on you however - for keeping your cruiser looking nice and free of grime. I am just a purist (hope im not coming across the wrong way) and doing this everytime you get scuffs or grime means after five years you have 200 layers of wal mart paint and a bigger mess on your hands. 2.50 vs. 250 is quite nice however!

nice cruiser :-)

I'd love to be able to strip mine down and "do it right", but it takes two things.....time and money...and I'm on a budget. Was wondering what kinda of prep work you did before as far as if there were any rust spost or just sanded down the old paint. I like the look. although dmaddox, makes a good point about the grime and tree guts. on my old 4runner, after working on it or a good day on the trails, I'd wash, slight sand and recoat the spot lol. but was really easy to make look just like the first time I painted it.

I'm painting mine now and budget is nill. I priced this out as well becuase I was going to go this direction but changed the direction of the build. Turns out I can strip mine all the way down and spray the entire rig with a self-etching/high build primer, base, and clear including all the materials needed (minus the booth) for the same price.

I just like the look of his cruiser. Reminds me of CARC (which you can get at sherman williams in most areas. It reminds me of our GMV's.
