Why did my studs break?

Hi

I found 4 of the studs that hold my free wheel hub body on broken on the LH front hub. I at the same time found that the wheel bearing had a little free play in it.
Are they related or is there another reason the studs broke?

What type of freewheeling hubs are they? Its a problem with hubs that do not use tapper colets.
Also check for sloged out dowel pin holes, if so then this puts driving sheer forces directly on to the studs

I have a BJ73 with the original factory hubs. I think these are Asian?
the 2 dowls are there and I will have to check if there is any slop. the Taper washers are all there and were in place when I disassembled things.

Aisin is the brand you have I believe not asian.

Check your axle for freeplay or slop or premamture wear also.

You may find the other bolts are also weak and will also break. REplace the lot when you find the problem.
