This truck has been in my hood for a while now.

I see that somebody was considerate enough to spray paint it...

Might have been the TX plates...

Anybody?

The spray paint pisses me off big time...

Do not know who the rig belongs to.

Yes, would it not be fun to catch a paint tagger in the process and take the paint can and paint their face and the rest of them before calling the police?

Get the vin and go to the local pd and have them run it in NCIC I am surprise a rig like that that would not have had the spray paint cleaned off

If you do not want to do that give me the vin I will run it

Run a guy's vin because you want to know who he is? Or because you think it might be stolen - based on spray paint? Damn dude... stalk much?

Guess I considered it a neighborly / Mud thing...

A: I've never seen this truck until recently.

B. It's fairly built, ie: the owner is into his rig.

If some motherfxxxer tagged my 100. I'd go nuts.

I don't see it too often, but if it's around a a few more weeks, then I'll raise the issue again, or just let it go.

I guess seeing a nice built FJC with out of state plates tagged rubs me the wrong way.

Sorry for the concern.

Back to more important s*** now.

And is there a Manhattan, GA? :D

No but I'm surprised there isn't a Manhattan, GA (there's a Rome, Dallas, etc). I moved from NYC - Upper East Side of Manhattan.

By the way, I don't think the post is off base at all... running a VIN and tracking down the owner is what seems excessive.

It's all for the love of FJ'S!
I live in NYC and haven't seen that one...glad I have the all black TRD (although they'd probably tag me in white-Grrrrr).

What a chicken :censor: to do that to someone else's vehicle. If it has been sitting in the same spot for a while then let the PD know. If it moves around then it prolly isn't stolen. If it's "dumped" and tagged like that and no one has even attempted to get the paint off then it prolly is stolen.

ya

I deal with recovering stolen vehicle and getting them back to the owners

if it was my FJ sitting in someones hood with tagging on it for days without moving I would hope someone would say...THIS AINT NORMAL for around here and check it out. If it is not stolen then all is good....if it is stolen then you helped recover it.

Maybe the owner was just covering some trail rash with the spray paint! :)

Blends in!

When i lived in NYC in the 90's, I drove a beat up Yugo around. Nobody ever broke into it or damaged or stole it (except for a bent antenna one night)!

Maybe the owner wnats it to look like a "beater"~!

FWIW a buddy's wifes white Jetta got tagged in a shady neighborhood she had to go in to, came out & black paint of gang stuff all over it. Just in case this ever happens to anyone here the easy fix = gasoline on a rag takes it right off (wear nitrile or latex gloves or your hands will stink for days), then wash thoroughly & wax - looks like new again in a few hours. (8 years in the detailing business)

I think the tag makes a nice excuse for a better paint job. I never liked any of the stock colors Toyota came out with. I settled on the black cherry red, but none of them hide scratches well. I would have gotten the desert sand color that I think is aftermarket or came out after the second year, much like my old 40. You can scratch that all day and live with it.

you're a lot nicer than I would be ha!
