Jim just added extra beef to the ones he made for me last Fall at my request. Extra beefy for sure - I'll be getting some pictures soon. I just need to paint them up. Jim's a great guy to work with, he'll make whatever you want. :)

Marlin has sliders for the extended cab tacos that i think are 90 inches but im not sure ill have to check. They were $200 and fit great on the 60. I have had almost the whole weight of the truck on them a few times and they hold on just fine and they are almost as cheap as making and the time spend.

Okay, up front, I'm affiliated with Slee Off Road as my truck was used by Christo as the template for his 60 series slider prototypes. I have saved big $$ by having them mounted on my truck preventing serious body damage on numerous occasions. I think that Christo was one of the very first to supply quality products for the 60 series, including a very nice and yes, spendy, rear bumper/spare tire carrier along with the bulletproof sliders to a broad, rather than just local, market. He did all of the engineering and did so without having someone else's product to copy. I was going to comment earlier in this thread that your sliders look very similar to Christo's design with one small difference that I see as a weakness in your design, especially when compared to Christo's offering. No, it isn't the lack of finish and I have to say that powdercoating and very nice welds do make a difference to me but probably not all 60 owners. Your product appears to be worth the $$ you are asking and is priced accordingly when compared to a finished product like Slee's. I guess my venting is about how, with your above post, you are disrespecting a vendor who has done some great work for the Cruiser community for your own benefit.
Are you going to Moab? If yes, I hope to meet you there.

2badfjs, I want to buy your sliders. I don't need pretty welds because I don't stare at them or show them off to my neighbors, I drag them over rocks. The only thing I can think of that overhanger sees as a weakness is a lack of vertical gusseting. Then again, I only saw early pics of your sliders. Got any recent pics of your latest build??

can't we all just get along? seriously i've studied up on both products, both are fine depending on what you want/want to spend. Jim, perhaps that was a little tacky to do that. However, you seem to be a great guy, and will probably recieve my order within the next 18 mo. or so. Perhaps the best thing to do is pm me and S&S to give us your prices for a fully finishrd product, and what it would cost for unfinished metal and we'l call it good for this post.

Thanks for the thread link Nocal. Obviously they are gusseted, so I am clueless as to their "weakness." You might hear from me pretty soon 2badfjs.

Jim is just being honest. The difference I see is Slee has to pay to keep a shop open...employees.. electric bill...yadda.. so you pay more.

I put a coat of paint on mine tonight and am going to mount them up this weekend and will take some pics. They look very beefy to me and nothing about them is weak but I guess some rock surfing will let me know.

Exactly! Just as some prefer Craftsman tools to Snap On and the like, it is great that we have options for something like sliders too. There is a difference in build quality and I'm not knocking 2badfjs product at all. It is a matter of getting what you pay for and knowing that what you paid for will hold up under the conditions you expect to run into. Pretty welds, as you call them, also indicate that they are good welds made by a professional that takes pride in doing the job right. Fawk the neighbors.
As for the design difference between the Slee and Jim's it is in the gusseting. If the slider is sitting on rock and the truck's wheels are being lifted off the ground, Jim's gusset is totally dependant on the strength of the weld whereas Slee's gusset is properly placed and the gusset and weld are working together as a unit. Now if you weigh 800 pounds and plan on jumpng up and down on the slider, Jim's gussets will work to your advantage. I don't weigh 800 lbs, like to stay in truck and use the sliders as they were intended - to get me over stuff that would otherwise cause major body damage and prevent me from havng as much fun as I can.
One last thing. Jim, have you met Christo at a Rising Sun meeting yet? You both are in the same club, you know? He is a great guy and I suspect you are too and that both of you make great products for Land Cruisers is a good thing for all of us.

That's the spirit I like to see. I haven't met Christo but have Jim's sliders and know Jim as an excellent craftsman, welder, gentleman and all around great guy. Let's not let one quick comment overshadow that. :)
