Just thought I would get a thread going with a list of local Bham folks. Post contact info if you want.

I am a used car dealer in town and can get dealer and non dealer parts at a pretty good discount if anybody needs anything, offer good for anybody really and I can ship stuff too.

Look foward to meeting and wheelin with everybody!!!

I know there are a few of us here in town. I am located on the north side of hoover.

We should try to all get together.

I agree, easy to get together with people that live close. I know "bhmmapping" lives in Homewood I think. I live right off Broadway in Homwood. I see nice Cruisers all the time and wonder if they are on Mud or not.

I vote ya'll get together this Thursday, say 10:45AM at the Kirkland Clinic... If that works for ya'll I'll join you since I"ll be there for an appointment!

If ya'll have some form of cookout on a weekend, I'm game for coming up! I see cruisers up there all the time, but am usually in my Tow Rig (Scion tC) with a Spector license plate cover, but they always look at me crazy. I look crazy back i guess.

I would be there Thursday morning, but southside at that hour...too rough for me. Ha.

Hopefully we can get something together once the weather returns to normal.

I'm in birmingham as well with a 60 thats not wanting to run right. Haven't driven it for about 6 months now. Been too busy to get it running and when I do get the time, I still can't figure out whats wrong. I'm about to take it to the dealership to have them figure it out because I don't know any cruiser mechanics around here. It runs good when given some gas, but will not idle at all--just died on me one day at a stoplight. Looked under the hood and the secondary slow cut valve (I think thats what its called) was leaking some gas from the cracked rubber boot. I got a used replacement online for $20 because new was $140 and put that on. It started up great and idled so I drove it about 5 miles and then let it idle for 10 mins. Problem solved--until I got up the next morning and started it and it wouldn't idle. So now I'm back where I started.

Anyone have any suggestions for a mechanic or know enough themselves to give me a hand? I don't want to cave to the dealership because I could fix it myself, the problem is that I don't know what I have to fix.

I have a great on-site mechanic who will work mobile also. If it will run enough to drive to Tarrant, you can drop it off at my carlot, if not I could probably make an appointment for him to come by and have a look for you. Other option is have it towed over here if you prefer. He is cheap too, so let me know. I dont mark up parts or labor either, what ever it costs to fix is all you pay him.

sounds like fuel cutoff solenoid.

This fuel cut off solenoid you speak of, where is it located and how might I go about checking it out? I'm not too familiar with carbs which is why this is giving me such a hard time. If its messed up, about how much for new parts?

By the way, is that your yellow 40 on the UAB campus? I've seen one with a snorkel parked around there a few times now.

I appreciate the help guys!

badass, you go to UAB? Why didn't we have lunch today?! I think I ran over you today on University!
