Love those wheels. In fact, I was tempted to track some down for my '12 work-truck-packaged Tundra, rather than the more commonly-equipped "styled" steel wheels.

I don't think the 100 series was ever offered in the US without the major factory options - i.e. in the US context, that refers to leather, sunroof, 3rd row seats, upgraded radio w CD changer (yes, that was an upgrade for us then!), etc. If I recall, the base price increase from US 80 to US 100 not only addressed the change to the V8, new body style, etc., but also included making those prior options to be standard equipment. I first started lusting after LC's in the early 90's. I think that one could buy a US 80 then without the major options for an MSRP of ~$29-30,000. That was a bit out of my comfort zone then; plus the local dealers laughed when I inquired of the availability of such a stripped unit - much less at a normal discount. So I bought a Pathfinder!

When I finally bought my '02 new, I found a unit that was as stripped as possible. Sticker was probably $53k by then and it included leather, 3rd row, etc. It did at least lack the external cosmetic addons (distributor addons?) such as running boards, roof rack, etc.

It's interesting to visit the Toyota Aussie website and spec out a new 200 GX with cloth, rubber flooring, etc.

If only here...

Wish there was a swing away spare tire carrier for my LX, like shown on the GX-R

It was possible to buy a base 100 series here straight from the dealer for about $30k but now you can't buy a base 200 series from the dealer anymore, the lowest spec they offer is $50k. Although you can still get the base model in countries such as Qatar and Kuwait and just drive them back here. I'd be happy to post some pics of the base 200 series, maybe I'll create a thread in the 200 series forum.

I have torn leather, a semi-functional head unit, remnants of a hay bale, gold e-bay hub caps on OEM alloy wheels, dents and scratches, and my kids say it smells like "old-man". Does that count as "poverty pack"???

Does anyone know of a reputable source to get some of those steel wheels? I'd love some steelies but don't want to run spacers or anything. I'm researching now what factory options I have to stay 16" and such.

Or other things.

I'd almost give my left nut to have factory vinyl flooring like the FJ in my 2000 LC...

Wow, some of those are awesome - Are the darker steel wheels powder coated or just a different variation or coating for protection?

The wheels look almost identical to the FJCruiser steelies (which are not split rim). Here's a pic: 17x7.5 Toyota FJ Cruiser Steel Wheel - Road Ready Wheels There are also several on Ebay for 75 shipped.

Yeah but FJs are like Tacomas and 4runners with 6-lug hubs.

I need 5-lug wheels.

If money's no object, they are available in 16x6, five-lug, OEM steel wheels, but they aren't cheap. They were OEM on 79 series, I think...

Want to stay 8" wide...

Thanks though.

I wish we had a way to get that black front and rear bumper as well.

SO if you order a new bumper cover from Toyota I'm sure they are that exact item as they don't come painted correct?

I ask only because Honda/Acura like to ship lots of parts that you wouldn't think would be painted and they are already color matched.

10-4,

Might be best I stay 16" aluminum anyways to keep the unsprung weight down anyways.

Just how how utilitarian that base looks. But yet it has chrome/plastic door handles. Lol...

I always found the low end specs of vehicles like the land cruiser to be very cool so I figured why not create a thread dedicated to finding the lowest spec 100 series on the forum.

Just saw this thread. I've never seen another 100 like mine in the US. There is a black one without a sunroof owed by someone on mud as well. I had to have it once I saw it in person, given the condition and simplicity. No sunroof, cloth interior, no third row, no rear vent Windows, no roof rack ever, no running boards ever, no rear air, and it never had a hitch on it before I added one. The interior pictures are from when I purchased it two years ago, but the top picture is pretty much how it sits today. The seats are covered with weather proof seat covers and have weather tech floor liners as well to preserve its condition.
