I am about to start on a wave of electrical mods, lights, solar, fridge etc. Instead of creating a Medusa of wires coming off the battery I plan on installing a dual battery setup with a second fuse panel to keep things tidy, safe and easy to diagnose issues down the road. I bought a 12 circuit Blue Sea fuse panel with 100 amp breaker and battery isolator (that is for another write up).

I am curious as to where others have mounted a panel like this? I am likely looking in the engine bay due to how much real estate there is under the hood. I don't have the second battery yet, but I am thinking of mounting in the passenger corner near the windshield to be in close proximity to the second battery once it's added.

Any pics of what you have already done to add a fuse panel? Thanks in advance

I'm a fan of the Blue Sea stuff! Added a 12 circuit up front then decided to add a 6 circuit in the back to cut down the amount of wires going back and forth!
They both feed from second battery. Need to do a bit of organizing wires but am pretty happy.

Thanks I was thinking the same thing, when I add drawers and or a storage platform to add a separate smaller panel for keeping things tidy in the rear like, water pump, cargo lights etc. I've never seen a house hold fuse box installed in a vehicle that is pretty cool. I'll likely let mine take a beating from the elements and use marine shrink wrap, and quality terminals. I have a Blue Sea mounted in my 40 that has been abused for years and is 100% reliable.

Thanks for posting up Paulo!

Here is my FJ40 second panel

Not visible in the front panel are the 2 max fuses bolted under the gray box. One goes between the solenoid and battery, the other between battery and the fuse panels. 6gauge cable running inside fender and along frame to the rear fuse block inside compartment on RH plastic panel to feed rear stuff.

I also had it open but got too much junk in it and it wasn't gonna last so was trying to find an automotive plastic box to go in there but it was stupid difficult to get the right size and cost was ridiculous! Started looking for something else and found an AC breaker disconnect at Home Depot with the correct dimensions for $10 and could not pass! Plugged the holes I didn't want and drilled new ones where needed.

older jeep cherokee and grand cherokee have a great fuse box you can wrecking yard crawl for, look for the long narrow one that mounts on the passenger side front. comes with about 15 circuits and a long pigtail that runs around the motor compartment.

I've watched a you tube video of a guy rewiring one of those in his trail truck, they are pretty cool and skinny enough! I only saw that after mine was done already otherwise maybe I would've end up with a jeep part in my cruiser!:worms:

I have one in my 80 ahead of the second battery, use it for the radio's and 12v fridge.. it was all of 10$ just made a mounting bracket

I have one installed next the 2nd battery with one 10 ga. wire running to the rear. It's Blue Sea also. No rear fuse box needed yet. Only run a few LED lights while camping

I have a Bussman fuse/relay box that I will be adding to my LX after I get a whole lot of other higher priority items crossed off of my ToDo list.

I have mine in the back , had it mounted like this at first.

Now I have just removed the pocket and have it just sitting in the space so I can get to it easy. I ended up hard wiring a plug for the fridge and have to 12v installed behind the second row. This set up works well and kids in the rear can reach back and plug in.
