Like the title says, I'm wondering who has an old iron crawler? Mostly what I see on CSC is newer rigs and shiny stuff. I see a ton of really nice stuff, so no offense intended, just wondering who else has an SOA and doesn't mind wasting a body panel here and there? I have a few buddies with tubed up mini trucks & 4 runners, but I would like to get out with some cruisers in the near future on some of the nastier trails AZ has to offer. I know pirate 4x4 is a great source for Crawling, but too many dana 30's for me. My 62 is a trailer queen until I get my smog issues dealt with but I am always down to hitch up and go whenever.

What i'm really looking for is other SA cruisers with @ least 1 locker, good protection, Longfields, and @ least 35" mud terrains of some sort. Oh yeah, and a willingness to laugh when steel hits the rocks.
I would like to do this with CSC members and those of us with extra seats can carry other members who would like to join but aren't equipped to do so. Especially while the weather is nice (95 with 80% humitdity is like home so its nice):hillbilly:

Rhino, where is that pic of the cheetah pig bottom'd out on the boulder.;)

Got a bunch of local friends who like to go out all the time with cj's, yj's, and those rubicon things. They keep inviting me along, sounds like fun, but all I keep hearing is stories of broken junk..

Can't afford it, so I'm not into it.:meh:

I know there are a few here, just looking for some more people to play a little rough with.

Leftarmtan, if you are ever heading to TM in your sheet metal 40 PM me, I'd love to hit up florence one day, but after the oven cools.

I could be qualified, but I try to drive elegant enough to avoid the major sheet metal damage.

My rig is up for some clutch replacement real soon though. :frown:

I ripped off my fender flare once :hillbilly:.

Does that count?

Dont worry, I waxed her up the minute I got home

Being my DD, I wouldnt mind a weekend warrior rig to thrash on/get rock kisses.

Sounds like the Jeep thing. Broken Junk. Went out with a Rubicon that is set up like my 62 in the lift and gearing dept., but his was $30,000 more and had less interior space. Took Jeep 50 years to make a Dana 44 stock, which is silly, 50 years to wait for a dana 60 I could see, but a junk 44? :hillbilly:

The reason Toyotas are biatchin is that the drivetrain is strong enough that with gears, 35's, and a stock motor (and a good driver who is light on the gas) you can make it through most spots a rig with 35s will fit through, without broken drivetrain parts. Oh yeah I forgot the drivers side ratchet strap to keep from tearing motor mounts.

That counts, and you could definitely make 2 of the trails we run without any panel damage, and with your buffing skills all the branch scratches will come right out.

My 62 has been my DD for 4 years (Taken me to WA, MI, CAN, ID, and all over CO) until I had to re-register here, now smog is holding me back. Or else I would rub curbs in it right now too. Or the occasional mini van. :hillbilly: Most dents/scratches buff out with a good kick from the inside of the quarter panel.:grinpimp:

Mine is still somewhat shinny, not looking for dents, but also enjoy challenging it in the rocks. I love trails like Elvis, where there are fun things for moderately aggressive to play on and can watch, spot, shoot pix of the big boys playing.

I tried up and over, denied, couldn't even get on it, due to that huge ass ARB bumper pos!:o

The yellow cruiser should be done before it cools down, I'll post up a run at TM or white tanks

Wait a second murf, you have a body shop down there don't you? You've got nothing to worry about.
40's are best suited for less body damage in general, it's the wagons that have the huge ass and longer wheelbase which gets in the way. It is great sometimes like on waterfalls or ledges, but when I finally get into another 40, I won't miss getting high centered, or having the extra length behind the rear axle to hit walls with.

For me the biggest cause of denial is the front/approach. Wheelbase isn't that big if an issue, would likely build a buggy with about the same. Have to deal with the rear overhang on a wagon, but the Luke bumper has helped big time, it's mega strong and drags, slides in about any direction. :hillbilly:

Howdy! Piggy still runs OK, but it's not geared down low enough to do the super crawlin. Still like to go out and have fun. Don't think I've been on Elvis. I'd be interested in checkin it out. John

Not much super crawling here, just some more technical stuff where sliders (or lack of care for rockers) and T-case skid are needed. I want to run some stuff on the southern end of town as friends have told me how great all of it is, just want to wait till I get the 62 registered again.

Whats on the southern end of town?
I'd be willin to bet there thinkin of the Middle Gila River Basin. Commonly referred to as the Florence area. Anything you want to drive on, south of Superior and Globe, east of Florence and Florence Junction. Back when ASA4WDC had their annual jamboree out there, they had trails rated from easy, almost 2wd, up to "double locked, 35's or better, and expect body damage". John
