Was driving around downtown Victoria the other day and drove past what appeared to be a silver(beige?) BJ62. It had square headlights, was LHD standard roof, and had a little diesel sign in front.

I was not in my cruiser at the time. Anyone know whose this might be?

I think you probably saw a HJ60

A LHD one with square headlights? As far as I know, that would mean it would have to have been imported from Europe... (I've seen one that was from Italy).

edit: oops I see my mistake above I put "RHD" where I meant "LHD"! Hence the confusion

Still that is a point it could just as easily have an H series engine

There are a few LHD Hj60s around I believe they were sold in north America for a short period(85-87)my Toyota parts dealer lists the parts for them in his data bank which makes me think they were sold in Canada but I could be wrong this is the one model of cruiser I have not owned so I don't have much knowledge of it.
I do know the Bj60 has round eyes unless someone changed the the grill and lights on it and the FJ62 is a gasser with square eyes there is no BJ62 only BJ60,HJ60 or Hj61 all being diesel.

sorry, BJ62 is a made up model number for people like me who turned a BJ60 and a FJ62 into one truck...

I'm pretty sure North American HJ60's all have round eyes... thus any truck with a diesel emblem and square eyes is either an import or DIY diesel...

Hey, your finally back. So what happened to Snowy?

Yeah have been on a bit of a mud hiatus since no longer requiring it as literally a lifeline. Once I get all the photos I'm going to do a trip report.

Snowy is good! Well, relatively speaking. Her clutch is iffy at best, only one break appears to be reliably working currently, and she's really sluggish. But, she's alive and on the road (don't worry not as a DD), and will be restored into her full glory for many more expeditions! Currently I'm just limiting myself to paint-ding repairs to ensure that she doesn't develop a rust problem over the BC winter... her paint was original, took a lot of abuse, and is in terrible condition. Once I've done that, I'll look into the breaks, clutch, and see what if anything can be done about her poor old engine.
