I was cruising down to a party, non-homo style and my new oil pressure gauge kept getting lower and lower. When we got on the highway to get over a river I had nothing on the gauge. In fact it was a little below 0. It wasn't rattling. Getting off the highway it stalled and would not re-start (hard crank) Coolant temp was 210. checking with a thermal gun showed roughly the same. Let it cool off a little and it restarted. Made it to Jerome's. Went to leave before the biblical storms and it ran poorly, rattled and knocked. Plied Jerome with alcohol and stole his Taco. Towed it home the next day.
Just got it in the shop. The bearings and crank are all wiped out. Oil is full of aluminum. Compression is fine. there's oil under the valve covers. I measured a little over 4 quarts out of the oil pan. That's just about right with a big oil filter.
It'll have a new motor in it before I leave for the day. I'm gonna swap the vortec heads on to the 327 that came in the LV.
