23, Insurance agent for Farmers.

I bought my 80 because I needed a good looking car for work, but I wanted something that I could play with off-road. Thought about a Rover, but I knew that I would be spending more $ in repairs that payment! I have built a couple 4Runners and mini trucks, so a LC seemed great. Now I'm just slowly building it to be a really good looking truck that goes anywhere I want...

33, middle school science teacher, married, no kids, 1 bad ass weiner dog.

Graduated from Humboldt State University with BS in Biology, worked as a professional fly fishing instructor for 7 years, then decided to turn fly fishing back into a hobby. Went to grad school at Pacific University and currently teach 7th and 8th grade kids how not to blow themselves up in a lab.

I've had a love affair from afar with cruisers ever since my uncle bought a FJ40 when I was just out of high school. I always like the wagons and was about to buy a FJ60/62 before I happened onto this site and started looking at the 80s. I just bought my first cruiser ~ a 1995 FZJ80 with lots and lots of fun toys already attached.

I don't get the waves from fellow owners that a 40/55/60/62 owner would, since most of the local 80 owners are 35 year old soccer moms on their way to the mall, but deep down inside, I know it's a real cruiser.

Another Humboldtian...nice. There are a few on this board--Russ in Norcal is one off the top of my head.

I lived in Arcata/McKinkileyville area between the years of 1996-2001. I went to HSU too and also worked for United at ACV.

Glad to hear that you are doing well even farther north than norcal.

Best.

A&P/IA/Quality Inspector on biz jets
Lived here and there - CO, PA, MN, IA, FL and now Long Island, NY. All with the hopes of heading west again.
I purchased my first Cruiser ('74 40) after realizing J*%P's are, well, you all know the answer. Had it for 2.5 years and put close to 60K miles on it. Some of you in Denver or MN may have seen it, she was painted 7 or 8 different colors (on purpose). Had to sell it for something more practical. Quit job, went back to school still keeping an eye on the Cruiser world. Long story short, got into an accident with my truck (totaled) and found it a great time to get an 80 that I have been wanting since '96 when they were way out of my price range.
'94 80 it's project in it's infancy
Trying to sweet talk the wife into a late 80, 100 or the FJ Cruiser (she likes the look).

Cheers,
Kris

I grew up in a 40 series while going on dive and camping trips and I always wanted a Cruiser, so I picked up a cherry 1984 FJ60 back in 1994. I had to sell it in 1995 to save up for a house. I picked up the 1992 FJ80 in Feb 2000. The 3FE recently came out and was replaced with a nice 350tbi and ARB lockers front and rear. I tend to buy vehicles and drive them until they die. The 60 series is the only vehicle I've ever sold, and only because I had to. The 92 will be driven until I'm an old man. The 80 is built for the long haul and I intend to see it happily run that haul. :D 80's rule!

22 next month.

Wonderful relationship with my girlfriend, no hurry to get married or have kids.

Sales Manager at Man-A-Fre, been here about 3 years, kept moving up from day one. Oddly enough I aquired this job through a temp agency. I was hired for my customer service/sales knowledge, not for my interest in Cruisers. It wasnt until I started working here that I knew anything about Land Cruisers actually. Then like everyone else, fell head over heels for those beautiful hard sexy curves, gutless horse power, and crappy mileage Land Cruisers.

I finished some college, I was actually attending night classes in college while still in high school, then went on for about 2 more years. I havent built up enough motivation to go back and finish college, maybe I will someday.

I kicked around the idea of almost every series cruiser until I settled with the 80. I found a 91 for a very good price, and have big plans for it. It is in AZ right now at 4+ getting a bunch of new stuff, I hope to have the engine swapped by the end of this year.

The 80 was picked up in Florida and I've spent up to now getting it back to original condition. Prior owner neglected it. Next I want to lift and lock it to get up to were most of the forum members are so that I can share war stories.

- When not at work I try to spend as much time with my family as possible, fly fishing / fly tying, camping, hiking, playing music.

Growing up had a neighbor that had a 60 and I absolutely loved that truck. I tried to fill that need for a Land Cruiser with Broncos, Blazers, and Heeps, and now finally am the proud owner of a 97. I originally wanted a 60 myself, but figured an 80 would be the best bet for our road trips / daily driver / backwoods family hauler.

Drove a 87 Toyota 4x4 truck thru colloge and made a mistake getting rid of it with only 90,000 miles, I have also had a junk cherokee and a trooper, and a few other trucks. I have always wanted a cruiser and my wife has loved them also. Finally got a job close to the house and had the chance to get a project car, a 95 - 80. Its not new, smells a little if the puddles are to deep (yes, one day I'll find that hole), has the normal quirky cruiser items, but is probably the best ride I have had (even the brand new ones). My wife is a professor and drives a Sequoia 4x4. I'm still trying to get some toys for hers, but upsized Revos are it right now.
