so I pulled the head and had it rebuilt and took about .050 off for a little bit more compression. I reinstalled the head and torqued per the FSM and have run it quite a bit trying to get is properly tuned. The issue I am seing now is white smoke from the exhaust until the truck warms up. Its not real thick but its there. Once the truck warms up it goes away. Ive adjusted the valves three times since I put the head back on and have re checked the head bolts for proper torque. I am afriad the head gasket has failed again. Also how often should I have to set the valve lash? the exhaust valves are brand new so I expect some expansion from them but I cant seem to keep them in spec.

did you use a toyota head gasket or an aftermarket one? I used an aftermarket one from CCOT and it failed. So far so good with the OEM gasket.

and some condensation is normal at startup......just depends on ambient temperature.

Start with a compression check if it is really nagging at you:cheers:

How much are they out each time you check them?

Did you reuse the old head bolts? How much do you trust the shop that decked your head?

white smoke or light grey? is the engine eating coolant, overheating? It could just be oil seals on the valves and you are buring off oil leak down in the combustion chamber. compression check, if good i would look for an oil leak into the cyclinder, ie valve seals, improperly installed or damaged piston oiling ring. ie rings expand/seal expand as engine warms tightening oil seals no more smoke

also be sure its not condensation/evap based on temps and humidity as has been mentioned.

just my .02

White smoke? definately sounds like water. x2 on checking coolant level and compression. I managed to run water through my intake(don't ask) once and it bellowed the white smoke out the tail pipe like crazy. Oil usually burns a darker grey to almost blue smoke.
