Hey guys, back playing with the rig and it feels good! But... there is a whistling noise like that of a ref's whistle. It occurs when the hubs are locked and its in 4L and 4H, but it didn't seem to happen when I had the hubs free. Would appreciate any thoughts as I'm just trying to get er ship shape for the summer.

Check the pinion flange dust cover is not squashed against the diff.

Check all fluid levels and grease driveshafts.

agreed .maybe im talking out my ass but is there any air lines going to the transfer case moter or is it all electronic:D

IIRC only the 60s got vacuum shift on the t/case, Could be wrong though especially on US models.

Thanks for the info guys, just shot the post out there to see if it was a common problem ect. I've got the truck up on blocks at the moment dealing with frame rust, am guessing the whistling noise is probably fluid level related. Will check it out. Also am going to make a post in the 40's section on rear Frame resto ideas including shackle mounts back, if any of you have any would apprecite info.

J
